The new Tensor G5 processor powers Google's flagship Pixel 10 series. While the Tensor G5 has received a mixed reception, some users are comparing its performance against the aging Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor. So to evaluate the performance difference, we have benchmarked the Tensor G5 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 across various benchmarks. On that note, let's check out our findings.
Google Tensor G5 vs Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: AnTuTu Score
AnTuTu Benchmark | Tensor G5 | Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 |
AnTuTu Score | 1,291,252 | 878,434 |
CPU | 457,073 | 272,842 |
GPU | 382,578 | 263,942 |
Memory | 242,613 | 150,993 |
UX | 208,988 | 190,657 |
We conducted the AnTuTu benchmark on the Pixel 10 Pro, which is powered by the new Tensor G5 chip. In this test, the Tensor G5 scored 1,291,252 points while the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 achieved 878,434 points. In terms of overall performance, Google's Tensor G5 delivered 47% faster performance.
Since the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is nearly two years old now and caters to the budget segment, it's expected that the Tensor G5 will perform much better. In terms of CPU performance too, the Tensor G5 leads by a massive 67% and the GPU delivers 45% faster performance.
Google Tensor G5 vs Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: Geekbench Score
Geekbench 6 CPU | Tensor G5 | Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 |
Single-core | 2,285 | 1,140 |
Multi-core | 6,191 | 3,021 |
In the Geekbench 6 CPU test, we see a similar trend. The Tensor G5 scored 2,285 in single-core and 6,191 in multi-core. In contrast, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 could manage 1,140 in single-core and 3,021 in multi-core. Here, the Tensor G5 CPU delivers 2x faster performance than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. Put simply, the Tensor G5 packs a high-end CPU, and there is simply no comparison between the two chipsets.
Google Tensor G5 vs Snapdragon 7 Gen 3: CPU Throttling Test
CPU Throttling Test | Tensor G5 | Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 |
Maximum Score | 408,383 GIPS | 275,299 GIPS |
Average Score | 289,135 GIPS | 245,566 GIPS |
Minimum Score | 239,312 GIPS | 188,304 GIPS |
Throttling Percentage (Higher is better) | 61% | 73% |
While the Tensor G5 has a far more powerful CPU, we ran the 15-minute CPU Throttling Test to evaluate sustained performance on all CPU cores. In this test, the Tensor G5 throttled to 61% of its maximum performance whereas the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 posted 73%. Sure, the latter is more stable, but it's not faster, meaning the Tensor G5 will complete heavy CPU-bound tasks much faster than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.
