At a special event in China, MediaTek just launched the Dimensity 9500, and it may look like an incremental upgrade over last year's Dimensity 9400, but there is a major jump in performance. MediaTek has adopted Arm's latest C1-series CPU cores and G1 Ultra GPU for the Dimensity 9500. As a result, the year-over-year upgrade is huge. On that note, let's go ahead and compare the Dimensity 9500 and 9400 across AnTuTu and Geekbench tests.
Dimensity 9500 vs Dimensity 9400: AnTuTu Score
AnTuTu Benchmark | Dimensity 9500 (Leaked) AnTuTu V11 | Dimensity 9400 AnTuTu V10 |
AnTuTu Score | 4,011,932 | 2,394,594 |
CPU | 1,043,247 | 562,120 |
GPU | 1,510,982 | 1,114,640 |
Memory | 667,254 | 349,385 |
UX | 790,449 | 368,449 |
In an early leak, the Dimensity 9500, powering the Vivo X300 Pro, has achieved a massive 4,011,932 points on the latest AnTuTu V11 benchmark. On the other hand, last year's Dimensity 9400 has scored 2,394,594 on the older AnTuTu V10 benchmark. The difference seems pretty large because these scores are derived from two different AnTuTu versions.
It means that we can't meaningfully compare AnTuTu V11 and V10 scores directly. We will be running the AnTuTu V11 benchmark on the Dimensity 9400 soon to evaluate their real performance gap.
Dimensity 9500 vs Dimensity 9400: Geekbench Score
Geekbench 6 CPU | Dimensity 9500 (Official) | Dimensity 9400 |
Single-core | 4,007 | 2,195 |
Multi-core | 11,217 | 6,979 |
At its China launch event, MediaTek revealed the official Geekbench scores of the Dimensity 9500. In Geekbench 6.4, the Dimensity 9500 achieved 4,007 points in single-core and 11,217 in multi-core tests. Meanwhile, MediaTek's 2024 flagship, the Dimensity 9400, powering the Vivo X200, achieved 2,195 in single-core and 6,979 in multi-core.
Overall, the Dimensity 9500 seems to have delivered an astounding 82% uplift in single-core performance and about 60% faster multi-core performance, compared to the Dimensity 9400. Meanwhile, MediaTek officially says the Dimensity 9500 offers 32% faster single-core performance against the Dimensity 9500. We will soon be testing the Dimensity 9500 on a retail unit to find the real performance gap.
This year, MediaTek has opted for Arm's new C1-series CPU cores, featuring the C1-Ultra, C1-Premium, and C1-Pro. This has resulted in a massive jump in CPU performance. It shows that Arm's C1-series CPU cores are seriously powerful and a huge improvement over previous Cortex-series cores.
Dimensity 9500 vs Dimensity 9400: Specs Comparison
While last year's Dimensity 9400 packed Arm's Cortex CPU cores, MediaTek has adopted Arm's new C1-series CPU cores for the Dimensity 9500. This has allowed MediaTek to raise the frequency to 4.21GHz for the prime core. In addition, the Dimensity 9500 brings a more powerful Arm Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU whereas the older Dimensity 9400 includes the Arm Mali-G925 Immortalis MP12 GPU.
