Nothing OS 5.0 is here; the next major update is coming to Nothing and CMF Phones this year. The company recently showcased everything new with its upcoming update, like the new transparent effects, changes to the lock screen and other AI features, along with the rollout schedule for supported devices. So, here's a rundown of all Nothing OS 5.0 eligible devices along with the release date.

Nothing has officially shared a list of all Nothing phones and CMF devices that are scheduled to receive the update, starting with the Phone (3), which is first in line for the Nothing OS 5.0 open beta and stable version. Here are the rest of the Nothing OS 5.0 eligible devices.

Devices Not Getting Nothing OS 5.0 Update

Some Nothing and CMF phones have reached the end of their life and are not eligible for the next Nothing OS 5.0 update. This includes: 

• Nothing Phone (2)
• Nothing Phone (1)
• CMF Phone (1)

Both the Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2) were promised 3 major Android upgrades and 4 years of security patches. Nothing has already confirmed the Phone (1) has completed that cycle with its final update in July 2026. The Phone (2) is in the same position, but it will receive security updates.

When Will Nothing OS 5.0 Launch?

Along with Nothing OS 5.0-eligible devices, the company has also officially shared a rollout plan, highlighting the open beta schedule for each device and the expected plans for the stable release. 

This list suggests that the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite and CMF Phone 2 Pro may not get the Open Beta release like other eligible devices, but they'll both get the stable update around the end of 2026 or start of 2027.

Nothing OS 5.0 Features

With the announcement, the company shared a closer look at all the new Nothing OS 5.0 features, and there is a lot to look forward to. Let me talk you through a few highlights. 

• More cohesive visual design: Nothing OS 5.0 brings an improved design language with a new typeface, spacing, animations, and a new, Lucent theme. Icons also pick up the hue of your current homescreen wallpaper.
• Transparent widgets: The update also introduces translucent widgets that look quite aesthetic, along with new widgets like Away Time and Collector to add random items to your home screen.
• Dedicated Glyph Matrix app: Nothing has also moved all the Glyph Matrix settings and options into its own separate app, making it easier to customise it on the go.
• Faster AI performance: Essential Space is getting a smarter collection to proactively sort through your saved screenshots, while the response time of Nothing's Essential AI Voice has become faster.
• New Lock screen clocks: On the lock screen, there are 2 new clock styles. One is a gooey face clock, and another represents a more techy hardware-style look.

How many years of updates does Nothing offer?

It depends on the phone. Nothing's A-series and mid-range models typically get 3 OS upgrades with 4 years of security patches, while the flagship Phone (3) gets 5 upgrades and 7 years of security patches.

Is Nothing OS 5.0 based on Android 17?

Yes, based on Nothing's own teaser so far, Nothing OS 5 is expected to be built on Android 17, similar to how the Nothing OS 4 update was built around Android 16. 

When will Nothing OS 5.0 be officially released?
