Nothing OS 5.0 stable update is now rolling out to the Nothing Phone (3) and it’s the first Nothing phone to get Android 17. The rest of the eligible Nothing and CMF phones will get the stable update between November 2026 and January 2027. Devices Not Getting Nothing OS 5.0 Update
Some Nothing and CMF phones have reached the end of their life and are not eligible for the next Nothing OS 5.0 update. This includes:
- Nothing Phone (2)
- Nothing Phone (1)
- CMF Phone 1
Both the Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2) were promised three major Android upgrades and four years of security patches. Nothing has confirmed that the Phone (1) has completed the update cycle and it got its final update with the July 2026 security patch.
The Phone (2) launched with Android 13 and received Android 14, 15 and 16, so Android 16 is its last major upgrade. However, it will continue to get security updates till July 2027.
As for the CMF Phone 1, it was promised two major Android upgrades and three years of security patches. It has already received both of those Android upgrades, so it doesn't get the Nothing OS 5.0 update.

Nothing says these timings are indicative and may change. The Nothing Phone (3a) Lite and CMF Phone 2 Pro will not get the Open Beta and both will go straight to the stable release. The Phone (3a) Lite will get the stable update in late December 2026 while the CMF Phone 2 Pro will get it in mid-January 2027.
The Nothing Phone (4b) is the newest phone on this list, but it’s the last one to get the update. Nothing says the phone’s Android 17 development cycle started later and it also needs additional integration and certification work. That is why its Open Beta is planned for mid-December and the stable release is scheduled in mid-January 2027.

How to Update to Nothing OS 5.0
If you own a Nothing Phone (3), you can check for the stable update by going to Settings > System > System update. Nothing is rolling out the update in phases so it may take a few days to reach your phone. The update is 2.84GB in size if you are on the stable build. And if you were already on the Open Beta, the download is smaller, at around 1.68GB.
If you own one of the other eligible phones and don't want to wait for the stable release, you can join the Open Beta through the Nothing Beta Hub. Keep in mind that beta builds can have bugs and going back to the stable version requires an update rollback which wipes your data.

With the announcement, the company shared a closer look at all the new Nothing OS 5.0 features, and there is a lot to look forward to. Let me talk you through a few highlights.
- More cohesive visual design: Nothing OS 5.0 brings an improved design language with a new typeface, spacing, animations, and a new, Lucent theme. Icons also pick up the hue of your current homescreen wallpaper.
- Transparent widgets: The update also introduces translucent widgets that look quite aesthetic, along with new widgets like Away Time and Collector to add random items to your home screen.
- Dedicated Glyph app: Nothing has moved all the Glyph Interface controls and features into a separate app, so it’s easier to manage the Glyph lights on your phone.
- Faster AI performance: Essential Space is getting a smarter collection to proactively sort through your saved screenshots, while the response time of Nothing's Essential AI Voice has become faster.
- New Lock screen clocks: On the lock screen, there are 2 new clock styles. One is a gooey face clock, and another represents a more techy hardware-style look.
- Redesigned Launcher and Micrographics clock: The redesigned Launcher and the new Micrographics lock screen clock face were not part of the Open Beta. They are now coming with the stable update, so Phone (3) users get to try them for the first time now.
