After concluding the Android 17 QPR1 Beta cycle, Google has officially kicked off testing for its Q4 2026 December release. The brand is now rolling out Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 for all supported Pixel phones, bringing a myriad of bug fixes and system improvements.
Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 Rolling Out
Google has highlighted in its Beta bulletin that it's rolling out Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 with build number CP41.260701.005. The OTA weighs 445 MB on our Google Pixel 8a and covers the Pixel 6a, the newest Pixel 10 series, and the Pixel Tablet.
Unfortunately, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro smartphones are excluded from the list because they'll be reaching EOL in October 2026, a full month before the scheduled QPR2 rollout in December 2026.
The Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 update builds on existing Android 17 features and fixes a host of bugs, starting with Gemini crashes that caused system reboots and crashes when invoking the AI assistant.
Besides, various fixes for the notification shade bugs, window-level blur rendering failures, and unwanted lock screen media player flashes when app notifications are disabled have been implemented.
Additionally, Google has addressed silent Bluetooth re-pairing issues and touch loss that plagued previous builds. While the build doesn't include many user-facing changes, it lays the groundwork for all the goodness that's yet to come.
If you're currently on Android 17 QPR1 Beta and want to move to the stable QPR1 update without erasing your phone, you should leave the Android Beta Program now via the Android Beta website. Moreover, they will need to refrain from installing the Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 update. Since Android 17 QPR1 Beta testing is now wrapping up, the stable update should arrive soon, so stay tuned.
