Apple has released the eighth iOS 27 Beta to iron out bugs and inconsistencies ahead of the brand's September 9, 2026 launch. The update has been released to both developers and public and is now available for testing on all the supported iPhones.

The iOS 27 Beta 8 carries a surprisingly heavy file size of 1.51 GB and arrives hot on the heels of the iOS 27 Beta 7 release last week. Despite the large download, Apple has omitted any detailed changelog. This is because the build largely focuses on ironing out bugs and glitches to ensure stability and polish.

However, the pursuit of a bug-free experience is still ongoing, as early adopters have encountered recurring bugs in the build. Users on the r/iOSBeta subreddit highlighted prominent keyboard issues. One of the main issues is the typing lag and delayed keystroke registration.

More importantly, one of the major keyboard issues that persists is that the virtual keyboard refuses to appear when selecting a text box and doesn't disappear when users are done typing.

Combined with bugs like no sounds for notifications, unsynced notification haptic response, and volume slider delays when watching a video persist. We're hoping Apple fixes these issues in the stable release expected to land after the Apple event on September 9, 2026.

That said, the current beta cycle is nearing its conclusion. Given the tight timeline, Beta 8 could very well be the final testing build before the official Release Candidate (RC) is seeded. If these newly reported keyboard bugs prove widespread, Apple might squeeze in one final, minor beta patch just days before the main event.

iOS 27 Beta 8 will roll out to all iOS 27-eligible phones, from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 17 series. Interested users can head over to Settings -> General -> Software Update -> Beta Updates to get the latest beta update.

Some of the iOS 27 features include the new Siri AI, customisation options and more. The upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra foldable are expected to arrive with stable iOS 27 out of the box at the Apple Surprise and Shine event next week.

More information should be revealed as we inch closer to the September 9, 2026, event date, so stay tuned.
