The day is finally here, as Apple debuts the brand-new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside the foldable iPhone Duo. Both Pro models bring Apple's first 2nm processor, a redesigned main camera system and a noticeably smaller Dynamic Island. Also, due to the ongoing RAM crisis, both iPhones are more expensive than before.
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max Specifications and Features
Starting with the display, both the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max use Super Retina XDR OLED panels with 120 Hz ProMotion and up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness, protected by Ceramic Shield on the front and back.
The only difference between the two is the screen size: the 18 Pro brings a 6.3-inch display and the 18 Pro Max gets a large 6.9-inch screen. Another noticeable aspect of the display is the size of the Dynamic Island. Compared to the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, the upgraded Dynamic Island can now show three Live Activities at once.

Design-wise, both phones keep the familiar Pro silhouette, which is an aluminium unibody frame with a large camera plateau. But the rear glass is now more transparent and colour-matched to the body. The camera plateau itself is slightly thicker than before to accommodate the new variable-aperture main camera.
The A20 Pro chipset, built on TSMC's 2nm node, powers both phones. It packs a 6-core CPU (2 performance cores, 4 efficiency cores), a 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and a dual 16-core Neural Engine with hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
Apple's Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module packaging places RAM directly on the same wafer as the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine, which should translate into faster on-device Apple Intelligence and Siri AI performance along with better efficiency.
Apple claims the new chip is up to 40% faster and has 50% more memory bandwidth than the A19 Pro processor.
This translates to faster Apple Intelligence and Siri AI performance and better battery life. Connectivity is handled by Apple's new C2 5G modem, which adds a Limit Precise Location privacy setting that stops carriers from pinpointing a device to an exact address.
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max also include upgraded cooling. The new vapour chamber is 3x the size of the iPhone 17 Pro series and is paired with more heat-conductive graphite. Apple claims a 40% gain in performance compared to the iPhone 17 Pro series.

Moving on, cameras are another area where the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have received a huge upgrade. These are the first-ever Apple iPhones to feature a variable-aperture main camera. This will help users manually control how much light reaches the sensor for greater control over exposure and depth of field. This is the full setup:
- Main Camera: 48 MP Fusion camera with variable aperture (f/1.48-f/4.0), 24mm equivalent, sensor-shift stabilisation, also enables a 12 MP optical-quality 2x telephoto crop
- Ultra-wide camera: 48 MP Fusion Ultra Wide, 13mm, f/2.2, 120° field of view
- Telephoto camera: 48 MP Fusion Telephoto, 100mm, f/2.8, 4x optical zoom with tetraprism design, also enables a 12 MP optical-quality 8x crop, for a 16x total optical-quality zoom range
- Front camera: 18 MP Center Stage camera, f/1.9, which remains unchanged from the iPhone 17 Pro series

As far as battery and charging go, while the exact figures are not known at the time of writing, the iPhone 18 Pro Max features the biggest battery in the family. It is also the biggest battery in an iPhone yet.
The 18 Pro Max is rated to last up to 45 hours on a single charge in video playback. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro can deliver up to 36 hours of video playback time.
Both phones support up to 60W fast charging and Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W via MagSafe. Apple's claim that the iPhones can fast-charge up to 50% in around 15 minutes.
