Xiaomi has officially shared our first proper look at the Xiaomi 18 Fold ahead of its launch at the company's autumn hardware event next week. Xiaomi is referring to the foldable as a "mid-fold" phone.

The official Xiaomi Weibo account refers to the mid-fold design as a "new experience that is both portable and has a wide view at a glance." The brand also confirms that the Xiaomi 18 Fold is comfortable for one-handed use with its 5.38-inch cover display. Unfolded, it reveals a 7.58-inch main display using a new aspect ratio specifically tailored for multitasking and video consumption.

Additionally, the brand also showcases the phone's design via a video. It shows the phone in a striking red finish, with a horizontal camera strip on the back housing a triple-lens array and an LED flash. This falls in line with the previous Xiaomi 18 Fold live image leak and yes, it does look very similar to the Huawei Pura X Max.

The company has also confirmed that the camera system was co-developed with Leica, continuing its long-running imaging partnership. Xiaomi has also shared a look at the phone's internal structure, introducing a newly developed "dragon bone" hinge. As per the company, this hinge has undergone a rigorous, simulation-based testing system for improved durability.

Powering the Xiaomi 18 Fold is the company's own Xring O3 chipset. Apart from that, the Xiaomi 18 Fold will use CXMT's LPDDR6 memory, making it the first phone to do so. On the software side, the phone will run HyperOS 4, integrating Xiaomi's own MiMo on-device AI model for local AI processing.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold launch date is confirmed for September 7, 2026, but it won't be alone on stage. Xiaomi is also set to unveil the Xiaomi N70 Pro, N70 Max, and N90 Max electric vehicles at the same event, alongside the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max, a premium tablet that will also run on the new Xring O3 chipset.
