Ever since Gemini got integrated into Google Meet, one of the most useful additions has been the "Take Notes for Me" feature. It allows Gemini to work in the background on Google Meet calls, acting as an AI-powered transcription and note-taking tool. Now, access to "Take Notes for Me" is extending beyond virtual meetings.

An official Google Workspace blog post has confirmed that Google Meet's Gemini-powered "Take Notes for Me" feature will now work during in-person meetings as well. This will be true for Android phones, iPhones and the web-based interface.

On Android and iPhones, the "Take notes" icon will sit at the bottom of the screen, just beside the "New call" button. As for web, the new meet.google.com redesigned interface will have the "Take notes" option just beside the "Create" button at the top.

Users will simply need to click on it to allow Gemini to collect data and transcribe it during in-person meetings. Do note that the feature will work as a voice recorder cum transcriber app. Hence, it will require microphone permission for the entire duration "Take Notes for Me" is active.

The feature can be stopped or paused anytime the user wants. Once the in-person meeting ends, Gemini will automatically compile a structured summary, a list of action items and a complete transcript into a Google Doc.

That document is saved straight to Google Drive, and a link to it is also emailed to the user. Currently, in-person "Take Notes for Me" only supports the English language and each session duration is limited to 15 minutes.

Hence, for meetings extending beyond 15 minutes, users will need to reactivate the feature and it becomes practically unusable if meetings are in any language other than English. At the time of writing, it is currently unknown if these limitations will be ironed out anytime soon.

That said, the "Take Notes for Me" feature for in-person meetings in Google Meet is currently limited to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers on Android and the web. The feature will reach iPhones by the end of August 2026.
