Honor has made history with its latest foldable flagship, the Magic V5, which has now officially entered the Guinness World Records. The foldable lifted an incredible 104 kilograms while suspended by its hinge, earning the "heaviest weight lifted by a suspended foldable smartphone" title.
The record-setting event took place in Dubai, where the Honor Magic V5 was hung by a cloth strap from its hinge. Then, the foldable was used to lift an 84 kg refrigerator with 20 kg weighted plates attached to it. This feat was verified on-site by Guinness World Records officials.

As per the official Guinness World Records post, this was done by Honor to "showcase the strength of the hinge on their HONOR Magic V5 foldable phone." For those unaware, the Honor Magic V5 flaunts a 'Super Steel Hinge' that flaunts a tensile strength of 2300 MPa. This makes the hinge stronger than certain aerospace-grade materials as well, as per reports.

The brand also boasts that this hinge has survived 500,000 folds, which ensures long-term durability. What's more impressive is that the Honor Magic V5 is just 8.8mm thick when folded and just 4.2mm thick when unfolded. The foldable phone is also pretty lightweight at 217 grams.
From the very beginning, durability has been one of our top priorities when developing this device, as we aim to create new possibilities for foldable technology. We wanted to make sure that HONOR Magic V5 is not only smarter and slimmer but also stronger and more reliable.

The Honor Magic V5's global launch is scheduled for August 28, 2025, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It also sports a 7.95-inch AMOLED main display as well as a 5,820mAh battery. There's also a triple rear camera setup with a 64 MP periscope telephoto lens, all of which makes it a serious player in the flagship foldable market.
Recently, we also got to know that Honor is planning the Honor Magic V3's India launch sometime in September 2025. Post that, the brand will be bringing the Magic V5 to the country as well. So, the brand certainly has big plans for its foldables going forward and the Guinness World Records title sure does work in their favour.
