Huawei has officially unveiled the Mate X7 in China alongside the Mate 80 series. It's a book-style foldable and is a successor to the Mate X6, which launched last year. The phone gets a few upgrades in terms of durability, design and battery, including a new and improved Kirin processor.

Huawei Mate X7 boasts a 5,600mAh battery

Starting with the display, the Mate X7 features a 6.49-inch 120 Hz LTPO OLED display that can get as bright as 3,000 nits. The inner display is an 8-inch 120 Hz LTPO OLED unit with 2,500 nits peak brightness. Both displays are capable of 1,440 Hz PWM Dimming.

Powering the Mate X7 is the Kirin 9030, which is a nona-core chipset with one prime core clocked at 2.75 GHz, four performance cores clocked at 2.27 GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.72 GHz. In terms of performance, on paper, it seems to be very similar to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor.

The chipset is manufactured on a 7 nm process and scores around 1,131 points in single-core and 4,277 points in multi-core on Geekbench. GPU-wise, there's an upgraded Maleoon 935, which brings decent improvements.

Optics-wise, the Mate X7 comes with three rear cameras: A 50 MP main sensor with OIS, a 40 MP ultrawide unit and a 50 MP 7x telephoto with macro capabilities. The front camera on the cover screen is an 8 MP unit, while there's another 8 MP camera on the inner screen.

All the cameras use RYYB sensors, which, for those unaware, use Red, Yellow, Yellow, Blue colour filter pattern instead of RGGB. Huawei claims this setup is capable of capturing up to 40% more light for better low-light performance. The phone runs Huawei's proprietary HarmonyOS 6.

Durability-wise, the phone is IP58 and IP59 dust and water-resistant. Huawei also claims that the inner screen is made of Triple Composite Tough Laminate for better durability. Besides, the phone also uses second-generation Kunlun glass from Huawei itself.

The Huawei Mate X7 is available in two versions – Standard and Collector's Edition. The standard 12 GB + 256 GB Mate X7 costs 12,999 Chinese Yuan (Approximately Rs 1,63,000).

The Collector's edition with 16 GB + 512 GB storage starts at 14,999 Chinese Yuan (Approximately Rs 1,88,000). The top-spec 20 GB + 1 TB variant of the Collector's edition costs 17,599 Chinese Yuan (Approximately Rs 2,21,000).
