BSNL has laid out a roadmap for its telecom infrastructure at the 10th India Mobile Congress. The national telco operator has announced four initiatives aimed at tightening network security and streamlining consumer access.
On the consumer front, BSNL is overhauing its Vaani chatbot. The platform will not auto-detect a user's location and deliver real-time network performance upgrades.

Additionally, catering to India's expansive cultural heritage, the app will support multiple Indian languages while also allowing users to log network complaints through voice commands.
To bridge the communication gap between consumers and state departments, the telco has introduced Bharat Sandesh. It's a dedicated two-way messaging portal that ensures that critical government communications run on local infrastructure.
Adding to that, BSNL is also taking steps to reinforce its infrastructure. The telco has partnered with Saptang Labs to use AI-powered cybersecurity directly in its network backend.
Finally, it is also collaborating with Japan's Fujitsu to harness its existing dark fibre network to deploy an advanced All-Photonics Network. This should help deliver in terms of speed, efficiency and scale and offer lower latency while also simplifying the overall architecture.
This is the second telecom announcement to come out of the India Mobile Congress 2026, the first being Jio's 6G patent acquisition announcement, which could give the technology a head start in the country. All things considered, it looks like India's telecom space is all set to improve drastically in the next few years.
