Summary

  • MediaTek has launched the Dimensity 9500s, a 3nm flagship smartphone chipset.
  • Key upgrades include an all-big-core CPU, Immortalis-G925 GPU with ray tracing and a next-gen AI NPU.
  • Dimensity 9500s brings future-ready features such as 5G Release 17, Wi-Fi 7 and support for high-refresh-rate WQHD+ displays.

MediaTek has officially launched the Dimensity 9500s alongside the Dimensity 8500. The Dimensity 9500s is built on an advanced 3nm process and focuses on sustained performance, next-gen AI workloads and meaningful gains in power efficiency.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500s Specifications and Features

The Dimensity 9500s is essentially a toned-down version of the Dimensity 9500, with MediaTek's All Big Core CPU architecture at its heart, driven by the Cortex-X925 prime core. The chipset prioritises peak and sustained performance, making the chip well-suited for demanding multitasking and flagship-grade gaming.

Graphics are handled by the Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU, which brings hardware-accelerated ray tracing along with MediaTek's latest gaming technologies, including MAGT 3.0 and MRFC 3.0. These features help improve frame stability, reduce latency and optimise power usage.

AI is another major focus, with the Dimensity 9500s featuring an upgraded generative AI-ready NPU, enabling faster on-device AI tasks such as image generation, real-time photo enhancement and AI-backed productivity features without relying heavily on cloud processing.

Talking about multimedia, MediaTek's Imagiq ISP supports ultra-high resolution cameras and advanced video capture, including 8K video recording. The chipset also brings support for high-refresh-rate WQHD+ displays as well.

Connectivity is equally future-proof, with 5G Release 17, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 onboard, delivering faster speeds, lower latency and more reliable wireless performance across use cases.

The Dimensity 9500s is clearly a toned-down version of the regular Dimensity 9500 and is nearly as capable. Given how the ongoing RAM crisis has hit the smartphone market like a truck, OEMs can take to this chipset as well as the Dimensity 8500 to make relatively accessible phones in the coming months.
