Nothing is making the Essential Key on their phones a little more functional, as the added physical button can now double up as a call recording utility whenever you need.
The official Essential account on X has shared a post confirming that a "Call Recording" feature is now rolling out on Essential Space. The feature can be invoked by long-pressing the Essential Key on eligible Nothing phones whenever a user is on call with someone else.

As shared in the official demo, users can also start the call recording from the Notifications tray by tapping on the Start Recording option when they initiate a phone call. As soon as the call ends, the recording will be saved inside the Essential Space app.

When a user taps on the "Recording saved" alert, they'll see a transcription of the call, along with its summary and topics covered. The feature is thus aimed to help users maintain focus during a call as Essential Space handles the rest.
Since the Call Recording feature is part of the Essential Space, it'll only be available on select Nothing devices, like the Phone (3), Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro. In another post, Nothing has mentioned that the feature is rolling out automatically on these devices, without requiring a manual update.
The brand says Call Recording will be initially available in India, UK, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea and Thailand by October 7, 2025. The feature's availability has been confirmed to expand to more countries "soon".
Call recording is the latest of the many features that has been added to the Essential Space, ever since its debut on the Nothing Phone (3a) series. Essential Space gained clipboard privileges recently to allow users to create Collections from the content they copy.
