The wait for Android 17 is finally over for Nothing Phone 3a users. Nothing OS 5.0 is now making its way to the Nothing Phone 3a series, bringing new features, customisations and enhancements to both phones.
A recent automated firmware alert on the Nothing Community reveals that the stable Nothing OS 5.0 update is now rolling out to the Nothing Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro. It carries firmware version C5.0-261023-2146.
Additionally, the Nothing OS 5.0 stable update for the Nothing Phone 4a series is also rolling out.

As is standard practice for major operating system upgrades, this is a staggered release. This means that the update will roll out in batches and may not show up on all Phone 3a series smartphones at the same time. This is to ensure the experience remains stable.
As for the Nothing OS 5.0 features, the update introduces a new Translucent theme, adds more Lock screen customisations, new Lock screen clock faces, redesigned status bar icons and improved animations.
Additionally, there are new widgets like Collector, Away Time and Glyph Timer, alongside camera enhancements like refreshed camera UI, upgraded presets, and improved recording.

Some of the other general improvements include an expanded Dark theme, Enhanced HDR brightness, Depth effect in wallpapers, refinements in Live Updates and an improved Bluetooth tile.
The size of the update is a monstrous 3.09 GB, and users can check for updates in Settings -> Software update -> Check for updates. It's recommended to have the battery charged to at least 50% before initiating the installation.
With the update out for the Nothing Phone 3, 4a and 3a series, other Nothing OS 5.0-eligible smartphones could get the update soon. Until then, stay tuned.
