OnePlus 15 users can now get an early taste of Google's latest operating system. The OxygenOS team has officially announced the rollout of Android 17 Beta 2 for the brand's latest OnePlus 15 smartphone. While the release opens up the smartphone as a testing ground for enthusiasts, it also comes with a fair bit of warnings.
OnePlus 15 gets Android 17 Beta 2
Right after Oppo announced Android 17 Beta 2 for Find X9 Pro, the sister brand OnePlus has announced Android 17 Beta 2-based OxygenOS for the OnePlus 15. And just like on Oppo, the builds for OnePlus are accompanied by some very severe warnings.

OnePlus explicitly states that this Beta is strictly for power users and developers who are experienced in flashing custom ROMs. The brand strongly advises against installing it on a daily driver as there's a very real risk of bricking the phone. More importantly, installing the update will completely wipe all data, so making a full backup is necessary before proceeding.
Early adopters will have to deal with significant instabilities. The current list of known issues includes a broken Cast feature, occasional black screens when using the camera and severe screen flickering or crashing within native system apps. And just like on Oppo Find X9 Pro, app compatibility also appears to be a hit-or-miss.

While the changelog appears to severely demotivate users, the bright side to this release is that users can get an early look at and try out Android 17 features. OnePlus also states that to install the open beta, users need to be running OxygenOS 16.0.3.503 or 16.0.5.700, and anything in between.
Carrier-locked models are currently not supported. Besides, in a typical OnePlus fashion, the installation method varies by region. EU and India users can upgrade via the Local OTA option in system settings that pops up after enabling Developer Mode. Meanwhile, NA users need to download a local update APK that will aid them in flashing the ROM.
All the update packages are available on the OnePlus Community page for Global, EU, India and North America. Consequently, the roll-back packages are also linked below them, if anything were to go wrong. While we don't know the official release date of OxygenOS 17, we expect it to arrive at the start of Q4 2026, so stay tuned.
