Amidst the slew of AI updates at the 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Reliance has also launched a new AI voice assistant that will be exclusive to the JioHotstar OTT platform.
The new AI voice assistant dubbed RIYA will help users find content easier and faster on the JioHotstar platform. Jio claims that users on the platform often feel overwhelmed while deciding what to watch from thousands of hours of content.

The introduction of RIYA is expected to change that. Chairman of Jio, Akash Ambani claims that RIYA is a "voice-enabled search assistant that makes searching for the right content effortless". Users will be able to simply ask RIYA to play key moments from a particular show, replay match highlights, get deep-dive sports analysis and more.

Jio says that RIYA is well-versed with the JioHotstar's content library and can play movies, TV shows, sports and more across every genre and year of content present on the platform. With this new AI-backed search option, JioHotstar aims to replace manual search with AI-powered solutions.

Speaking of AI-backed solutions, JioHotstar is also gaining something called Voiceprint. Jio claims that this AI product will "redefine new-age storytelling". It will be able to translate and convert any language content to the user's preferred language. Jio claims that this AI-based processing will deliver a natural and seamless experience without losing the "essence of the content".

Voiceprint will feature two options – AI voice cloning and Lip-sync technology. Both of these features will work in content to transform the voice of the performers on screen to the desired language of the user.
It will be able to achieve the natural dubbing nuance via perfectly synchronising the on-screen lips movement and maintaining the original vocal characteristics. This feature is intended to make movies and sports immersive and accessible to all. Especially live cricket matches where the user's preferred live commentary language is usually not available.

Speaking of cricket, there are two new options for the fans - JioLenz and MaxView 3.0. The former will allow users to view and experience content from different angles, providing personalized options for both sports and entertainment.
MaxView 3.0, on the other hand, will provide an upgrade over the existing MaxView experience with features like multiple camera angles, live scorecards, instant highlights, and language choices. This new update is targeted towards JioHotstar's mobile users specifically.
All the above-mentioned updates will roll out to every JioHotstar user in India in the coming days. Reliance claims that with 300 million paid subscribers, it is the second-largest streaming platform globally, offering over 3,20,000 hours worth of content.
