Samsung is all set to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series in a few days, consisting of the wide Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the more premium Z Fold 8 Ultra. Ahead of launch, a new report claims that the company is betting more heavily on the regular Galaxy Z Fold 8, with production now shifting in favour of the wider "passport-style" foldable.
Samsung Is Reportedly Prioritising Production of the Standard Galaxy Z Fold 8
According to the Korean publication ET News, Samsung will be focusing on making more Galaxy Z Fold 8 units than its other foldable smartphones. The tech giant is now reportedly planning to manufacture 2.8 million units of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is more than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8.
For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is reported to see a production run of 2 million units. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 production is reportedly set at 1.5 million units. This move arrives just a few days before the phone's official unveiling at Samsung Unpacked, and after Apple ramped up iPhone Ultra production to reportedly manufacture 10 million units.
For those unaware, the Galaxy Z Fold 8's passport-esque form factor is said to feature a 4:3 aspect ratio. The internal folding screen is expected to be 7.6 inches, whereas the outer screen could be a 5.4-inch unit. The Z Fold 8 will also feature Samsung's Flex Titanium display to eliminate screen creases and give users a seamless look.
That said, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.1 storage. Besides, recent Galaxy Z Fold 8 specs leaks suggest a 4,800mAh battery fueling the internals, complemented by 45W fast charging.
The Galaxy Unpacked 2026 date is all set for July 22, 2026, when Samsung will launch its next generation of foldables. More information about the upcoming devices should be revealed during the event, so stay tuned.
