2026 is the year of wide foldables and it has been all but confirmed that Samsung is adding a wide fold member to its lineup this year, in the form of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. But so far, we have only seen CAD renders and dummy units of the upcoming phone. However, a new leak now shows off the phone in real life for the first time ahead of its imminent launch.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Spotted in Real Life
The information comes from South Korea, where someone managed to spot the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide being used in public and posted images of the same at the DCInsider online forum. This is the first time an actual working prototype of the phone has leaked online and makes the wide foldable a reality.

At first impression, the foldable shown in the picture above, resembles the recent Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide dummy unit leak and shows off a boxy design, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, it is notably wider, confirming the passport-like aspect ratio and the pill-shaped dual rear cameras are also a dead giveaway.
This is in line with earlier Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide camera leaks, which suggest the device will come with a 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultrawide camera on the back.

Also, from a second image, we get to see the phone lying on a table folded and it does appear to be on the thicker side, even though it is expected to be sleek when unfolded. This could be due to the fact that the device is wrapped in a protective case to not reveal its design and what we are looking at is the thickness of that case.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Specifications (Leaked)
Based on current leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to come with a 7.6-inch inner display and a smaller 5.4-inch cover screen, the same as the upcoming Apple iPhone Fold. It might get powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and feature LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 battery capacity might also see a 5,000mAh capacity. Also, there is a chance Samsung could rename its wide foldable as Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. However, all these details are still up in the air, and we will only get confirmation once the device is launched in July 2026, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
