It is all but confirmed that Samsung is adding another member to its foldable lineup this year, with the rumoured Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. But so far, we have only seen CAD renders of the upcoming device. However, a new video showcases the dummy unit of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, giving us a first look at its design.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Dummy Unit Confirms Our Design Suspicion
Well-known tipster Sonny Dickson (@sonnydickson.bsky.social) shared a video (link) of the dummy unit of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. At first impression, the dummy appears similar to the current Galaxy Z Fold 7 with sharp corners and a flat design. It also looks quite thin and might measure as slim as the Galaxy S25 Edge when unfolded, as the tipster mentioned.

The dummy phone does look fairly wide, with a passport-style foldable design, which we have seen on the original Pixel Fold. However, there's a noticeably large gap when the device is folded in half. This could be an issue with the dummy unit and we expect the final model won't have the same problem.
We didn't get a look at the inner display, but the video shows a dual-camera setup on the back, as opposed to 3 on the current Samsung Fold. This is in line with earlier Z Fold 8 Wide camera leaks, which suggest the device will come with a 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultrawide camera on the back.

While this dummy unit appears close to what the final model could be, fellow leaker IceUniverse warns to consider this video as a "rough reference" only. It could be because this dummy might be based on the CAD renders of the Z Fold 8 Wide that we have been seeing only, and not the actual phone itself.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Specifications (Leaked)
Based on early leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 battery capacity might get a long-overdue upgrade to 5,000mAh capacity. Additionally, it might come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. It might come with a 7.6-inch inner display and a smaller 5.4-inch cover screen, the same as the upcoming Apple iPhone Fold.
And like Apple's rumoured naming scheme, Samsung could also rename its wide foldable as Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. However, all these details are still up in the air, and we will only get confirmation once the device is launched in July, along with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
