Sony 1000X The Collexion Specifications and Features

For the 1000X The Collexion, Sony has given the iconic MDR-1000X a facelift while paying homage to the original headphones. It uses the same synthetic leather body as the 2016 model, but features wider and deeper ear cups, a larger and wider headband and a stainless steel metal hinges.

On the inside, the 1000X The Collexion is almost identical to the XM6, but with a few tweaks. For starters, this is the first Sony headphone to feature DSSE Ultimate natively, which uses Edge AI to restore details in compressed music files in real time.

It also features 360 Upmix audio with dedicated profiles for music, movies and games. Sony has also added a dedicated Listening Mode button for switching spatial audio profiles. At the core, it comes with the same 30mm dynamic drivers setup as the XM6, but now feature a new soft-edge driver design for deeper bass and heightened noise cancellation.

This enables it to deliver a frequency response of 4 Hz to 40,000 Hz with codecs like SBC and ACC and 96 kHz and 990kbps with LDAC.

It comes with Bluetooth 6.0 support and can deliver sound via SBC, AAC, LDAC and LC3 audio codecs. The headphones come with 12 microphones, a dedicated QN3 Noise Cancelling processor and a new integrated V3 chip for sound processing and deeper smart ANC with environmental awareness.

In terms of battery, the 1000X The Collexion is rated to last for up to 32 hours without ANC and up to 24 hours with ANC turned on. It is comparatively lower than the XM6 which can last for up to 40 hours.

As for price, the Sony 1000X The Collexion costs $649.99 (approximately Rs 63,000) in the USA and it will also be available in Canada for 849.99 Canadian dollars (approximately Rs 60,000). It is unclear at the moment if the headphones will launch in India or not.
