The foldable smartphone space is all set to heat up this year with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8 and Z Fold Wide establishing a rivalry with Apple's first foldable. However, there's another foldable phone to look forward to, and that's the Vivo X Fold 6. Information about it has just leaked suggesting camera upgrades and processor changes.

Vivo X Fold 6 Could Ditch Snapdragon for Dimensity

According to Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the upcoming Vivo X Fold 6 foldable smartphone could use the Dimensity 9500 processor instead of the previously rumoured Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which is a major shift.

Until now, all of Vivo's foldable smartphones have relied on Snapdragon processors, notably ones that were a generation older. This was primarily for Vivo to save up on costs. If the shift to MediaTek is true, this would make the Vivo X Fold 6 the first foldable phone on the market to run on the Dimensity 9500 chipset.

Besides, DCS also revealed Vivo is aiming for a major camera upgrade on the smartphone. For those unaware, the Vivo X Fold 5 features triple 50 MP rear cameras, but the X Fold 6 will finally get a 200 MP main sensor. The ultrawide and periscope telephoto are expected to remain 50 MP units.

Design-wise, DCS suggests that it could remain largely unchanged. The camera unit will still be a circular one at the rear of the smartphone. Besides, to keep the phone slim, the phone will continue boasting a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, which should make it easier to carry.

While there's no official release date yet, considering the Vivo X Fold 5 launched in June 2025, the X Fold 6 should also be unveiled around the same time in 2026. Previous rumours pointed toward the Vivo X Fold 6 launching alongside the Vivo X300e.

As for the other specifications, the screen size is expected to remain the same. The outer screen could be a 6.53-inch unit, whereas the inner display could be an 8.03-inch unit. Battery capacity should be another highlight of the phone as it is expected to boast a 7,000mAh+ cell, making it the largest among other foldables.

With just a few months to go for a potential launch, more information about the Vivo X Fold 6 should start surfacing soon, so stay tuned!
