Summary

  • WhatsApp is developing a drafts filter for iOS to help users quickly find chats with unsent messages.
  • The filter creates a dedicated list showing all conversations where users started typing but didn’t send.
  • Users can enable or remove this filter anytime from chat settings.

WhatsApp is working on a feature that could save users plenty of time and find unsent messages easily. A dedicated "Drafts" filter has appeared on the WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.19.10.79 build, suggesting the feature is on its way to iPhones.

First spotted by WABetaInfo, a similar feature had appeared on the Android beta 2.25.18.17 version as well. The idea behind this feature is to let users quickly see all conversations where they've typed something but left it unsent. So, instead of having to hunt through an entire chat list, users can simply tap this filter and instantly view every chat with pending draft messages.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp plans to add this feature as a separate draft list within the main chats tab. While WhatsApp already labels such chats with a green "draft" tag, the new filter will undoubtedly make finding them much easier. Especially, if a user juggles through dozens of active chats.

Most importantly, the feature will most likely not be forced on users. From the looks of it, WhatsApp will let people add or remove the draft filter from the chat list settings whenever they like. This flexibility should really appeal to power users who can't risk having an important message left unsent.

Currently, the feature is still in development and has not been rolled out to beta testers. As always, we’ll be keeping an eye on the updates and will share more as soon as it’s ready to roll out.
