WhatsApp is testing out a new feature that will allow group admins to decide who get to access group invite links. The feature made an appearance in the latest WhatsApp beta 25.22.10.73 build for iOS.
Spotted by WABetaInfo, the feature is currently being rolled out to WhatsApp Beta TestFlight users on iOS. The feature was earlier spotted in the WhatsApp 2.25.23.5 beta build for Android.
As it is evident from the above screenshot, group admins will now have a new Invite via link or QR code option under the "Group permissions" page. Admins will be able to turn this option on or off based on how they want the invite link to perform.

For instance, when toggled on, anyone with the link or QR code will be able to join groups without the admin needing to manually approve them. However, if turned off, each and every new joining request will only go through once the admin approves of the same.
Do note that this new feature will stay inactive by default to ensure the Group Privacy Policy guidelines are adhered by. Keeping this feature active makes the most sense for admins since it ensures a seamless and easy group onboarding.
Added to that is the fact that group members other than admins will also be able to share the invite link or code with others to spread the word and help them join via the Group info page. This is especially useful for businesses that want to reach a wider audience on the platform.
It is important to keep in mind that the existing share link and code can get revoked by the group admin at any given time. This will reset the permissions and will make any previous link null and void. This will give admins control the flow of joiners and ensure only verified members are granted access.
That said, some WhatsApp beta testers on iOS are already able to make use of the new group invite link controls. This was also previously made available to WhatsApp beta users on Android. So, expect to see a full-scale rollout of the functionality in the coming weeks.
