With the third Android 17 beta update officially underway, smartphone brands like OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo and more have already started working on their next OS skin based on it. The latest one leaks details about Xiaoimi's HyperOS 4 and it could have some interesting things up its sleeve.
HyperOS 4 Leaked with Major UI Revamp and Leica Colours
According to tipster Smart Pikachu, the upcoming HyperOS 4 update based on Android 17 will bring significant visual tweaks, switching from the familiar HyperOS 3 design language to a more modern and mature look. The internal test server unit of the OS is said to carry "significant changes".

Moreover, one of the biggest changes with the next HyperOS update could be the addition of a dedicated Leica colour palette. While from the leaker's post it is unclear what this new addition will be, we believe it is a dedicated theming option built right into HyperOS 4, co-developed by Xiaomi and Leica.
We have already seen a deeper Xiaomi and Leica collaboration with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, especially the Leica Leitzphone by Xiaomi. So, it could be that Xiaomi is developing a new theming system from the ground up, which creates a Leica-inspired UI overlay, including themed icons, shadow and light effects, sounds and more.

Aside from that, we do not get to learn anything more about HyperOS 4.0. However, a previous leak hinted at the complete departure of the MIUI codebase, leading Xiaomi to build the core system applications of HyperOS 4 using the Rust programming language.
Hence, it is clear that Xiaomi is prepping a deep system-level yearly refresh with HyperOS 4.0. The upcoming software update is expected to debut with the Xiaomi 18 series sometime in Q3 2026, so there is still plenty of time for new and concrete HyperOS 4 details to emerge.
