The Vivo T5 Pro stands out with its massive 9,020mAh battery that easily lasts two days, backed by fast charging, a sharp and responsive display and reliable everyday performance. While the camera is decent in daylight, its low-light performance and the lack of an ultra-wide lens hold it back slightly. However, for Rs 29,999, the Vivo T5 Pro is one of the more well-rounded phones in the segment right now.

Pros

  • Big, bright AMOLED panel
  • Reliable everyday performance
  • Outstanding battery life
  • Detailed and vibrant daylight shots
  • Solid durability

Cons

  • No 120 FPS in CoD Mobile and BGMI
  • Average low-light photography
  • Filled with bloatware apps and alerts

As 7,000mAh battery smartphones are now the new normal, some phone makers have already started taking a bigger leap with capacities. The newly launched Vivo T5 Pro is one of them and its massive 9,020mAh battery instantly caught my eye. However, that isn't the only thing going for the phone. But is it all just on-paper facade or does it actually translate well in the real-world? After spending a little over a week with the phone, here's my in-depth Vivo T5 Pro review to answer that very question.

    Design and Build

    • 163.7 x 76.1 x 8.25mm
    • 213 grams
    • IP68 + IP69 rated

I’ve been using the Glacier Blue variant and it’s understated in a good way. The matte finish keeps fingerprints away, while the subtle texture underneath catches light just enough to flaunt those glossy textures nicely.

The design itself is clean. The camera module has a simple, vertical layout with a bit of character, but nothing excessive. It also makes the phone sit stably on a desk while I type my text away. That’s paired with the flat display (more on this later) and gently rounded edges, making the phone sit comfortably well in the hand.

Yes, it’s a plastic back and frame, but I didn't find the in-hand feel of the phone that cheap. It's well-built with minimum flex and the well-rounded edges make it sit firmly in my palm. At 8.25mm, it’s quite slim for the 9,020mAh battery it houses. You do feel the weight at around 213 grams, especially coming from lighter phones, but it settles quickly. The balance is right, so it never feels awkward or top-heavy.

The Power button and Volume rocker are stashed on the right side of the frame and they feel very tactile. You also get IP68 and IP69 ratings, which undoubtedly add a layer of confidence in daily usage.

    Display and Audio Quality

    • 6.83-inch 1.5K (2800 x 1260 pixels) LTPS AMOLED display
    • Up to 144 Hz refresh rate
    • 5,000 nits peak brightness (as claimed by the brand)

The Vivo T5 Pro features a 6.83-inch 1.5K LTPS AMOLED display and the size alone pulls you in. Watching videos or even just scrolling through Instagram feels immersive, largely thanks to those slim bezels that don’t distract you.

What I personally liked is how Vivo has tuned the colours, making them look punchy and vibrant. Skin tones don’t go weird, reds don’t blow out and blacks are very deep. That’s probably why I had a gala time binge-watching the newest Daredevil Born Again Season 2 on this.

Then, there’s the 144 Hz refresh rate and yes, in typical fashion, most apps cap out at 120 Hz. But even then, everything feels fluid. Brightness is where this display really takes off, with Vivo claiming up to 5,000 nits of peak levels.

Using the Luxmeter at the office, I was able to get an HBM of around 3,150 nits on this panel, which is super impressive. In real life, that translates into solid visibility both in brightly lit indoors and very sunny outdoors.

On the audio side, the Vivo T5 Pro comes with a dual stereo speaker setup and it’s solid but not standout. The stereo separation is there and you can clearly tell left from right, especially when gaming or watching videos. But the tuning in itself leans more towards loudness than richness.

Dialogues come through clean, which is great for calls and content, but there is not a lot of depth or bass backing it up. At higher volumes, it holds up without distorting badly, which I appreciate. But this isn’t the kind of speaker setup that makes you ditch your earphones.

    Performance Tested

    • Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset
    • Up to 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB UFS 2.2 storage

The Vivo T5 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and while it’s not a powerhouse, it’s very dependable in most scenarios. In day-to-day usage, I was jumping between apps, doom-scrolling, editing photos, taking calls and the phone just kept up. I didn’t encounter any random stutters or moments where I felt like I needed to slow down for it.

Those benchmark numbers aren’t record-breaking or anything but they do showcase the chipset’s stability. Here’s a rundown:

Gaming is where I tried to push it a bit. BGMI and CoD Mobile run well at 90 FPS in low settings. However, I just wish Vivo gives it 120 FPS support via a future update, since both the Infinix Note 60 Pro and Nothing Phone (4a) offer it while being powered by the same chipset.

The phone also offers 4D game vibration, which I’ve always been fond of on the iQOO 12, iQOO 13 and the latest iQOO 15. However, after longer sessions, I could see some subtle frame drops, especially when playing CoD Mobile’s Battle Royale mode. But nothing too serious.

Titles like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves are where the phone struggled and while the experience wasn’t unplayable, it was not particularly enjoyable.

What I did appreciate is how well the Vivo T5 Pro handles heat. Even after extended gaming, while it does get warm around the camera module, it never got uncomfortable to hold. That 7,000mm2 vapur chamber cooling surely does do its work.

    Software and Updates

    • Android 16-based OriginOS 6
    • Three years of OS updates and five years of security patches

The Vivo T5 Pro runs on OriginOS 6 out-of-the-box and everything feels super fluid almost instantly. Animations are quick, transitions are clean and there's a certain polish to the UI that makes the phone feel premium. Yes, I don't miss you one bit Funtouch OS.

However, there's a fair bit of pre-installed apps like LinkedIn, Truecaller, Facebook and a bunch of mini games like Block Blast. So yeah, I did spend the first 10-15 minutes just uninstalling and disabling things I knew I wouldn't use. It's not overwhelming but it does take away from that clean out-of-the-box feel.

I was also particularly annoyed with the countless notifications the Vivo Appstore, Themes and a couple of other apps kept sending throughout the day. So, I ended up force-stopping those apps too.

Once I cleaned things up, though, the experience improved a lot. What I actually started enjoying are some of the AI features Vivo has baked in. Things like AI transcript and document tools aren't just gimmicks and do come in handy now and then. In my case, it was useful when dealing with notes, meetings or even quick edits on the go.

Since my personal phone is the iQOO 12, I'm used to Origin Island and it's one of my favourite OriginOS 6 features. So, even with the Vivo T5 Pro, I found myself relying on it a lot as a hub for ongoing tasks and even dragging/dropping files into apps directly from there.

The overall software experience is fairly stable and I didn't run into any unwanted bugs, crashes or weird slowdowns. As for updates, Vivo is promising three years of Android updates and longer security support, which is a good thing to have.

    Cameras Reviewed

    • 50 MP Sony IMX-882 main rear camera with OIS, 2 MP depth lens
    • 32 MP selfie camera
    • Up to 4K @ 30 FPS video recording

I didn’t go into this Vivo T5 Pro review expecting a camera-first experience and after using it for a while, that instinct felt about right. It’s a setup that works best when you stay within its comfort zone.

In good lighting, the T5 Pro is actually quite reliable. Photos come out sharp, detailed and slightly on the punchy side, which is typical Vivo. Colours lean vibrant, but not to the point where things look unnatural. Greens are a bit boosted, skies pop nicely and overall, the images are social media-ready.

Dynamic range is decent too and bright skies don’t blow out easily. Shadows also retain enough detail to keep the image looking balanced and natural-looking. However, consistency could be better as the colours can sometimes fade out and make shots appear bland.

If you zoom in or start pixel-peeping, you’ll also notice slight over-sharpening and a bit of smoothing. But at a glance, most people will be more than happy with what it delivers during the day.

Low light is where things start to feel a bit more average. The phone does try to compensate with night mode and to its credit, it does lift shadows and brighten scenes a bit. But in doing so, you can see the trade-offs. Details get softer, highlights look a little artificial and there’s a slight haze to some shots if the lighting is tricky.

I also found myself needing a bit of a steady hand here. The camera takes a second to process night shots and any movement can affect the sharpness. When you get it right, the photos and usable but they don’t have the clarity or depth you’d expect from more camera-focused phones in the segment.

When it comes to selfies, the Vivo T5 Pro leans into bright, clean, and slightly beautified results. Skin tones are generally pleasing and the phone does a good job with exposure. Even in tricky lighting, it manages to keep faces well-lit without blowing out the background too much.

Portrait selfies are decent too and edge detection works most of the time, though it can get a bit inconsistent around hair. There’s also that subtle smoothing happening in the background, even when you don’t explicitly turn it on. While some people will like that, I’m not that fond of it and it could have used a bit of dialling down. The same results extend to capturing a portrait through the main camera.

Videos come out quite stable, thanks to OIS. What impressed me is that the phone can record 4K @ 30 FPS videos through both the rear and front cameras.

    Battery Life and Charging

    • 9,020mAh battery
    • 90W fast charging
    • Reverse wired charging and Bypass charging support

This is where the Vivo T5 Pro impresses most and that 9,020mAh battery is hard to kill. In my usage, this is comfortably a two-day phone with regular usage. Calls, constant social media, some gaming, YouTube before bed and I threw in a bunch of other things to see day 1 ending with around 60% battery left. I could still use the phone well into the next day, delivering an average screen-on-time of 10 hours.

    Vivo T5 Pro charging
    Vivo T5 Pro charging

Then there’s the 90W fast charging and even a short 20 to 30-minute plug-in gave me enough juice to get through the rest of the day. It charges from 1–50% in roughly 37 minutes, which feels around the same mark that Vivo claims. There’s also bypass charging to make use of, making it ideal for gamers.

Vivo T5 Pro Review Verdict: Should You Buy It?

All in all, considering the ongoing RAM crisis, the Vivo T5 Pro delivers on most fronts with a massive 9,020mAh battery, a gorgeous AMOLED display and reliable performance. While the absence of ultra-wide is felt, the 50 MP main and selfie cameras try to make up for it by offering some social media-worthy shots.

Unless you're Batman, venturing into the night and trying to get some good shots in of criminals, you're good. Besides, the 4K @ 30 FPS video recording is also a good bonus to have on top. Overall, the Vivo T5 Pro at Rs 29,999 easily qualifies for a spot in the best phones under Rs 30,000 list, and that speaks for itself.
