Summary

  • Hello UI's Android 16-based update will be the next major update for Motorola smartphones.
  • The Moro Razr 60 series will be the first to receive the update, followed by the Edge 60 Pro and Edge 50 Neo.
  • Motorola is yet to confirm the update timeline, but based on previous track record, it's expected to start rolling out in 2026.

Motorola's Hello UI is considered one of the cleanest Android skins on the market. The firm released Hello UI based on Android 15 last year with many features and improvements, and it's almost time for Android 16. If you own a Motorola device and are wondering if it will get the Android 16 update, here's a list of all the Hello UI supported Motorola devices.

Hello UI Android 16 supported devices

Unlike other firms, Motorola has already confirmed a list of devices that will be updated to Hello UI based on Android 16. For those unaware, the firm promises three years of major Android updates to its latest Razr series, with the Edge 50 Neo being an exception with five years of updates.

For its flagship or mid to upper-mid range smartphones, Motorola usually promises three, two or one year of updates, while budget devices are promised only one update.

It's quite difficult to precisely lay out the number of updates promised for each series of devices, as it can usually vary between two devices in the same series. However, we can list the devices that may receive Android 16 based on their launch dates.

Hello UI Android 16 expected features

Features-wise, Motorola is yet to unveil what’s coming, but we can expect certain Android 16-specific features like better predictive back gestures, search in photo picker and Advanced Protection Mode.

  • Advanced Protection mode disables a few Android features that can be exploited by bad actors.
  • Search in Photo picker helps you search for photos from your photo library with ease.
  • Enhanced Predictive back gestures improves the gesture animations and makes it available across more regions of Android.
  • Live Updates are similar to iOS’ Live Activities, allowing apps to update notifications live to reflect the status of a ride or food.
  • Material 3 Expressive is expected to change the UI elements across Hello UI, including Quick Settings and the Settings app.

Now, before you ask when Android 16 will be rolling out to devices, Motorola is still rolling out Android 15 to its devices. Therefore, the answer to that question is unknown. The firm hasn't had the best track record when it comes to timely updates, and has been severely lacking in terms of the number of updates when compared to the current industry standard.

Therefore, we wouldn't expect the Android 16-based Hello UI to roll out to the latest Razr series until Q1 2026. Until then, stay tuned to this section to learn more.
