We have all swiped a notification by mistake and realised a bit later that it was actually important. While on Samsung phones, the built-in Notification history can help, it only keeps notifications from the past 24 hours. That is where the NotiStar Good Lock module comes in. It's an advanced notification manager from Samsung that stores your notifications for weeks and months and you can search past notifications as well. So, if you want to set up NotiStar on your Samsung phone, follow our guide below.
What Is NotiStar Good Lock Module?
NotiStar is a notification management plugin for Samsung's Good Lock customisation app. Once you activate it, NotiStar saves every notification you receive including the ones you dismiss or clear. And all your notifications are kept in one place. You can search through them, create keyword filters and choose which apps to capture.
The biggest difference is how long you can store pass notifications. One UI's on Android's Notification history only shows dismissed alerts from the past 24 hours. However, NotiStar can store them for up to one year or with no limit at all.
Since it saves the notification text as it arrived, you can also use NotiStar to see deleted messages on WhatsApp and other messaging apps. Note that NotiStar is completely free and works only on Samsung phones via the Good Lock app.

How to Search and Filter Notifications in NotiStar
You can also search and filter dismissed notifications on your Samsung phone using NotiStar. For instance, if you dismissed a message with a booking time or a delivery update, simply type a word you remember and NotiStar will bring it up.
And if you keep looking for the same kind of notification, you can create a dedicated keyword filter instead. Here is how to do it.
- Open NotiStar, tap on the three-dot menu at the top-right corner and select Settings.
- Now, choose User filter list and then tap on Add filter.

- Here, give the filter a name, add your keywords and select the apps it should monitor.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Note that on One UI 9, NotiStar stops recording notifications from apps inside Secure Folder, Work Profile and Dual Messenger apps. By the way, phones on One UI 8.5 still get this option.
Also, NotiStar doesn't back up your notifications to the cloud. While Smart Switch can move your NotiStar settings to a new Samsung phone, your saved notification history stays on the old device. And if your phone is still waiting for the Android 17 update, you can check our list of One UI 9 eligible devices.
And that is how you can set up and use the NotiStar Good Lock module on your Samsung phone. Once it's running, you will never have to worry about a dismissed notification or a deleted message.
