The budget 5G smartphone market is filled with new and old contenders alike. With manufacturers still using processors released earlier this year and silicon giants launching new mid-range processors, the parity between old and new creates confusion. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and Dimensity 6400 are good examples of this, which are available on the Oppo K13 and the Tecno Pova Slim 5G. We pitted the two against each other to see which offers better value, and here's a full benchmark breakdown.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 vs Dimensity 6400 AnTuTu Score
AnTuTu Benchmark | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 | Dimensity 6400 |
|---|---|---|
AnTuTu Score | 894,500 | 544,835* |
CPU | 354,180 | 238,287 |
GPU | 163,828 | - (Test failed) |
Memory | 180,883 | 125,393 |
UX | 195,609 | 181,155 |
*As observed in our testing, the GPU portion of the Dimensity 6400's AnTuTu test failed. A theoretical total score would likely be closer to 600,000.
The difference between the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 and the Dimensity 6400 is massive. The former scored 894,900, completely outclassing the Dimensity 6400. In the CPU department alone, the Snapdragon chip holds an amazing 48% lead (354,180 vs 238,287), proving that its new ARMv9 architecture (Cortex-A720/A520) is in a completely different league compared to the older cores on the MediaTek chip.
The Memory and UX scores are also in favour of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 in the Oppo K13, though the gap in UX is smaller (only about 14,000 points). However, the GPU score of 163,828 makes it the better processor for gaming, while the Dimensity 6400 struggles to even run high-end graphics tests.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 vs Dimesity 6400: Geekbench Score
Geekbench 6 CPU | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 | Dimensity 6400 |
|---|---|---|
Single-core | 994 | 764 |
Multi-core | 3,082 | 1,978 |
Things become even clearer in Geekbench scores, where the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 dominates the Dimensity 6400 counterpart by being 30% faster in single-core. It posts 994 points (vs 764 points). However, the gap becomes a bit too much in multi-core performance with a massive 55% difference (3,062 vs 1,978).
The Dimensity 6400's score of 1,978 suggests it's a very entry-level processor, suitable for basic tasks. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 breaks the 3,000-point barrier, enters true mid-range territory and is capable of handling heavy multitasking and productivity apps that would choke the Dimensity 6400.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 vs Dimensity 6400: CPU Throttling Test
CPU Throttling Test | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 | Dimensity 6400 |
|---|---|---|
Maximum Score | 275,326 GIPS | 178,704 GIPS |
Average Score | 260,458 GIPS | 165,837 GIPS |
Throttling Percentage (Higher is better) | 85% | 88% |
The only area where the Dimensity 6400 in the Tecno Pova Slim "wins", as it did with the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, is in CPU stability. It maintains 88% stability compared to Snapdragon's 85%. However, the raw numbers tell you the main story, which is, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4's throttled performance (260,458 GIPS average) is still 45% higher than the Dimensity 6400's peak performance (178,704 GIPS).
Even when pushing hard and generating heat, the Snapdragon chip is significantly faster than the MediaTek chipset at its absolute best.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 vs Dimensity 6400: 3DMark Score
3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test | Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 | Dimensity 6400 |
|---|---|---|
Best Loop Score | 968 | 373 |
Stability | 99.6% | 99.5% |
3DMark gives us the definitive answer on gaming potential. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is nearly thrice as fast in graphics rendering, with a score of 968 versus the Dimensity 6400's modest 373. This means, while the Dimensity 6400 is limited to casual gaming at low settings, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 can handle modern games like CoD: Mobile and BGMI at Medium-to-High settings with ease.
Both chips showed excellent stability of over 99%, meaning neither suffers from frame drops during long sessions, but the Snapdragon renders those frames much faster.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 vs Dimensity 6400: Speedometer 3.0 Score
In the web browsing benchmark, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 scored 7.07 vs the Dimensity 6400's 5.88. This 20% lead translates to snappier web browsing, faster loading of websites and a smoother scrolling experience on social media feeds.

Verdict
Despite both processors often appearing in the sub-Rs 20,000 segment, they belong to different performance tiers. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is the clear winner, offering great CPU performance and a GPU capable of modern gaming. The Dimensity 6400 shows its age with older cores and entry-level scores.
It prioritises stability and basic 5G connectivity but cannot compete on raw power. If you have the choice between the two, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 device is undoubtedly the superior investment for longevity and performance, although it will also be the more expensive choice.
