The Android Show I/O edition is in full swing with Google announcing new features left, right and centre. One such new addition announced today is Screen Reactions, a new creator-focused feature coming to Android 17 that makes recording reaction videos significantly more straightforward. It lets users record themselves, overlaying their face directly onto whatever is playing, without a green screen.
New Screen Reactions Feature is Helpful for Creators
As announced by Google, Screen Reactions will be baked natively into Android 17 and allow users to capture their reactions and the phone's screen simultaneously and create an overlay at the top of the screen content without the help of third-party apps or excessive editing.

The feature will rely on Android's screen recording tool to make it possible. Google's aim with Screen Reactions is to let users capture their authentic and raw responses on trending clips, comment sections or product content, all in just a few taps.
The feature will roll out first on Google Pixel devices later this summer, putting it in line with Android 17's expected stable release window of June or July 2026. No specific date has been confirmed beyond the summer timeline. Availability on non-Pixel Android devices will depend on individual manufacturers incorporating it into their own builds.
Besides Screen Reactions, Google has also announced a few other Android 17 features that are catered towards creators, like the new changes in the Instagram Edits app for Android.
