Alongside a myriad of new announcements about Apple's next generation of operating systems, the Cupertino giant has announced a few new features for AirPods. Namely, studio-quality audio recording and camera remote features are coming to AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2 and here's everything you need to know.
Apple last year announced the ability to use AirPods as hearing aids. However, this year it has announced studio-quality audio recording which lets users record professional-sounding audio with ease.
This could come in handy for podcasters, singers and creators to record their content even when the surrounding environment is noisy. This would help them reduce the post-editing overhead, making it easier to publish content right from their devices.

Apple says the feature leverages the H2 chip alongside the beam forming microphones and computational audio to cancel out noise. This enhances the quality of voice during phone calls and FaceTime. The new feature works across iPhones, iPad, and Mac and supports the Camera app, video conferencing apps, and Voice Memos.
Similarly, Apple is also rolling out the ability to take pictures on the iPhone or iPad with just a press and hold gesture on the AirPods stems. One of the use cases that Apple has highlighted is the ability to take photos or start/stop video recordings while doing tasks.
Both features will be available on AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with ANC, and AirPods Pro 2, and will come with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26. They can be tested on supported devices via the Apple Developer Program, so users can try the new features out right now on the AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2.
