Apple Refreshes Its iPad Pro Lineup with the Latest M5 Processor

Apple today introduced its new iPad Pro models, now powered by the latest M5 chip. The updated models are available for preorder starting today, i.e., October 15, 2025, and bring significant improvements to AI processing power and connectivity.

The core of the upgrade is the new M5 chip, which includes a 10-core GPU with a new architecture, integrating a Neural Accelerator into each core. It also features, what Apple claims, is a slightly faster 16-core Neural Engine, although the M4 also came with the same number of cores. Combined, Apple claims the chip can deliver up to 3.5 times the AI performance compared to M4.

Beyond the processor, the new iPad Pro includes several upgrades, including the Apple-designed N1 wireless chip, that's found on the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, for Wi-Fi 7 support. Besides, the Cellular models also get a C1X modem, which Apple states offers up to 50% faster cellular data performance.

There's a bump in internal specifications, too. The M5 offers over 150GB/s of unified memory bandwidth and over twice as fast read and write speeds. The 256 GB and 512 GB variants come with 12 GB RAM as standard, while the M4 iPad Pro offered 8 GB RAM. The 1 TB and 2 TB M5 iPad Pros feature 16 GB RAM.

The new iPad Pro also supports fast charging of up to 40W. Apple claims up to a 50% charge in 30 minutes with a compatible 60W charger, and it will last for 10 hours of video streaming.

The new iPad Pro is available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes in Space Black and Silver finishes. It features the same 11-inch, 13-inch Ultra XDR OLED display, and most of the other specifications are pretty much identical to the iPad Pro M4 from last year. The tablet runs iPadOS 26, bringing features like Apple Intelligence, Preview App and the new windowing system with Liquid Glass design language.

Pre-orders for the latest iPad Pro M5 are now open, and they can be booked for a starting price of Rs 99,900 for the base iPad Pro 11-inch with 256 GB storage, standard glass and Wi-Fi-only connectivity. The 13-inch model with the same configuration will cost Rs 1,29,900. The tablets will start shipping and arriving in stores by October 22, 2025.
