Apple is focusing on big changes across its operating systems, with official announcements set to arrive at the WWDC 2025 keynote. The spotlight, as always, will be on the next version of Apple's mobile OS— iOS 26, which will feature a refreshed glass-like design and major upgrades to its core apps.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is working on design upgrades for core apps, including the Camera, Phone and Safari apps.
First up, the Camera will be redesigned with a minimalistic approach and will feature fewer options for simplicity. Previous leaks point to a two-tab design that only shows more options upon swiping.
The native Phone app could potentially feature the biggest change of all. As the report notes, the Phone app will introduce a new "single, scrollable window" view that merges a user's favourite contacts, recent call logs, and voicemails. This will remain an optional feature in iOS 26, and users will be able to switch to the older classic layout from the app itself.
The Safari app will become a part of Apple's visual glass-like redesign inspired by its visionOS interface. It will bring a refreshed look that will be "more transparent" and feature a "glassy address bar."
Besides these three, the Messages app in iOS 26 is expected to receive significant upgrades in the form of chat backgrounds and polling functionality.
iOS 26 is also expected to bring the macOS Preview app for the first time to iPhones. This should make it easier for users to view, edit and annotate PDFs on the go. The app will come pre-installed as part of the update alongside a new Games app. The Cupertino company is expecting this app to be an alternative to the App Store for the gaming community.
With WWDC 2025 merely a day away, users will soon be able to test the new features when Apple rolls out the iOS 26 developer beta this week.
