Apple has released the iOS 27 public beta 4 update, bringing a fresh batch of refinements and feature additions for general iPhone users. The new public beta arrives alongside the iOS 27 developer beta 6 update, bringing meaningful additions like refreshed system iconography, Siri AI updates, a smoother iOS experience and more.
iOS 27 Public Beta 4 Update: What's New?

The immediately noticeable change with the iOS 27 public beta 4 update is the new system icon design language on iPhones. Apple has redesigned the Safari, Preview, Siri, and Settings app icons, giving them a Liquid Glass makeover to match the UI. This was first released with the iOS 27 developer beta 5 update.
Apple has already added a new Liquid Glass slider in iOS 27, letting users adjust the level of intensity for transparency effects. iOS 27 now supports either a completely transparent look or a more frosted and translucent UI, adjusted for readability and accessibility.

The next update is to Siri AI, specifically for its voice capabilities. iOS 27 public beta 4 has carried forward the addition of British English as one of the supported languages from the iOS 27 public beta 3 build. Siri AI can now converse in 17 supported languages and also let users choose from multiple voice options with custom accents and tones.
The new iOS 27 public beta update also keeps the "Pace" and "Expressivity" voice control features of Siri AI intact. Moreover, the new update also keeps the updated Siri voice selection menu interface look and the ability to invoke Siri AI by swiping down from the Dynamic Island.

Moving on, just like the previous iOS 27 builds, Apple is also using the iOS 27 public beta 4 update for the purpose of Spotlight Indexing. The iOS 26.6 Release Candidate update was first spotted with extensive indexing, and current and upcoming developer and public beta builds of iOS 27 will continue to do so till the stable iOS 27 rollout.
The iOS 27 public beta 4 release retains Screen Time and Parental Control overhauls from previous beta releases. iPhones now let parents set which system apps kids have access to in the first place. This is accessible via Setup Assistant and also allows users to set Time Allowances, App Schedules and more.

As far as Apple Intelligence goes, the Photos app in iOS 27 public beta 4 bears the "Zoom Photos to Fill" toggle from the iOS 27 public beta 2 release. The app also expands access to Extend, Clean Up and Spatial Reframe editing tools to general users.
iOS 27 public beta 4 also includes key iPhone performance improvements. The CPU scheduler is now optimised to deliver a smooth Home Screen, Control Centre and Lock Screen experience. This level of system enhancement goes as far as the iPhone 11. The update also ensures smarter Wi-Fi and cellular data switching.

Beyond features, the iOS 27 public beta 4 update brings several quality-of-life improvements. For instance, users can save any video frame as a photo with a single tap, adjust alarm volume levels independently and add extra-large widgets to fill an entire Home Screen page.
AirPods get a custom equaliser and iPhones can connect directly to compatible GymKit equipment. FaceTime now supports simultaneous front- and rear-camera video on iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models.
In terms of squashing bugs, Apple has resolved a Pinned Messages interface bug that was present in iOS 27 developer beta 5 update, where the pinned conversation UI wasn't displaying correctly.
That said, the iOS 27 public beta 4 update can be downloaded by heading over to Settings -> General -> Software Update -> Beta Updates on eligible iPhones. Check out our detailed guide on how to install the iOS 27 public beta that walks you through installing the iOS 27 public beta 4 update.
For clarity, those with at least an iPhone 11 can get the update, although the more advanced AI features will be limited to Apple Intelligence-eligible devices only. With the fourth public beta now out, Apple is expected to continue seeding further builds over the coming weeks before announcing the stable iOS 27 update in September 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 series and the foldable iPhone Ultra.
