Krafton, the developer of BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India), has officially announced that BGMI Lite is coming soon. The toned-down version of the popular battle royale game is coming to India in late 2026 as a substitute for those who cannot run the regular BGMI on their lower-end smartphones.
BGMI Lite Is Coming Soon to Android and iOS
A new video on BGMI's official YouTube channel reveals that BGMI Lite is "Coming Soon" to India. The video features the game's official logo and the original theme playing in the background.

This will be a lighter iteration of the game designed for entry-level hardware that cannot run the main game without performance hiccups. For those unaware, the fully-fledged version of the game demands a minimum of 4 GB of RAM and requires up to 5 GB of free storage for a bare-bones experience.
While the teaser doesn't reveal the official system requirements and gameplay features, Krafton did release a PUBG Mobile Lite game before the major ban. BGMI Lite could very well be based on PUBG Lite, offering a similar but more optimised experience.
Based on that, BGMI Lite should be optimised for Android phones and Apple iPhones with less than 2 GB of RAM, taking up only 400 MB of storage. To maintain consistently smooth gameplay, BGMI Lite could use Unreal Engine 4 with a few changes, such as shrinking the map dimensions and capping the lobby at 60 participants.
The move to bring back a cut-down version of the game aligns with the events currently unfolding globally. There's an ongoing RAM crisis, which has users opting for lower-end smartphones barely capable of running the fully-fledged version.

BGMI Lite Release Date in India
Krafton hasn't confirmed the official release date in India. However, it appears that "PUBG Mobile Light" is releasing in other emerging markets by the end of 2026. A recent video published on the PUBG Mobile YouTube channel suggests the title is coming to Android and iOS later this year.

Considering BGMI Lite is a rebranded PUBG Mobile Light, it could also be slated for launch by the end of 2026. Pre-registrations for PUBG Mobile Light start on August 25, 2026, which is ideally when BGMI Lite pre-registrations should also start. More information should be revealed as we inch closer to launch, so stay tuned.
