Following Snapseed's revival earlier this year, the app appears to be gearing up to receive a significant addition to its toolkit. The app's latest build suggests Google's preparing to add Magic Eraser to Snapseed, a software tool that Google Photos users swear by.
First spotted by Android Authority in Google Snapseed version 4.1.11.998794600 in the app's "Downloadable resources" menu. An Erase module could soon join this section as a downloadable resource alongside Depth mode and Lens Filter Blur.

The feature is currently inaccessible and is hidden behind a feature flag that Google could enable very soon. The Erase feature could help users further tune their images by removing unnecessary objects for a more polished experience.
The addition of Erase would mean users can finally stop relying on the famous deprecable "Healing" tool, which often left smudges over backdrops. A dedicated erase tool could bring generative fill capabilities, making the workflow easier.
Alongside this new cleanup extension, the home screen is also receiving a visual tune-up. Development strings spotted by Android Authority reveal a restructured primary landing screen that swaps out the standard full-width import banner for a split bar.

This updated interface offers shortcuts to immediately load the latest photo captured through the app or launch a flexible file selector for an unreleased collage generator. Combined with Google Photos' upcoming Album improvements, users of these apps will be eating good by the end of 2026.
While the potential rollout timeline of these features is unknown, their existence in the app signals they may arrive soon. All in all, these features should help make Snapseed an even more capable tool.
