Google is finally making the switch from iPhone to Android far less painful. At the ongoing Android Show 2026 event, the company announced a major overhaul to its iOS-to-Android migration system, which works wirelessly now. Developed in collaboration with Apple, the new wireless transfer experience will allow users to move everything from an iPhone to an Android phone with barely any hassle.
Transfer from iOS to Android Goes Wireless
Google has confirmed that later this year, the entire process of switching from an iPhone to an Android smartphone will go wireless. The brand has worked closely with Apple to overhaul the iOS-to-Android transfer process, ensuring "your data moves with you".
Previously, users were required to connect a cable between iPhones and Androids to facilitate the transfer process. However, with the upcoming implementation, passwords, photos, messages, favourite apps, contacts and even an iPhone's homescreen layout can migrate to an Android device wirelessly.

Moreover, a key upgrade with the new wireless iOS to Android transfer is eSIM support. Hence, in case a user has an active eSIM on their iPhone, the user ID will be wirelessly copied to their new Android smartphone.
Also, with the new wireless iOS to Android transfer process, Google has partnered with Apple to expand AirDrop support in QuickShare to other Android manufacturers like Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi and Honor.
It will even allow cloud sharing by letting Android devices generate a QR code, which iPhones can scan to receive and send files instantly.
That said, both wireless iOS to Android transfer and expanded AirDrop support in QuickShare will arrive later in 2026. The rollout will start with Samsung and Pixel smartphones and will then gradually reach other Android OEMs across the globe.
