Apple's first-generation iPhone Air turned heads with its slim chassis, and there were rumours about the Cupertino brand not renewing it for the second generation. Well, leaks from the last few weeks have painted a different story, and a new report now reveals that the iPhone Air 2 is indeed coming with a few changes to address the pain points of the first generation.

iPhone Air 2 Key Specifications Tipped

Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station took to Weibo to share that a recent supply chain leak suggests Apple could pack a bigger 3,500mAh battery into the iPhone Air 2. This comes after a recent iPhone 18 Pro battery leak suggested that the next-generation iPhones will arrive with a massive battery life boost.

The latest leak also suggests that the smartphone could be powered by Apple's A20 Pro processor, which is expected to be more efficient and further boost the overall battery life.

This could fix or at least ease one of the biggest complaints with the original iPhone Air, which came with a 3,149mAh cell inside. The 3,500mAh battery combined with a more efficient 2nm Apple A20 Pro based on TSMC's 2nm process should result in great overall gains.

Besides, a larger vapour chamber, as the iPhone 18 Pro CT scans revealed, could greatly add to the overall efficiency. Despite the larger battery, the iPhone Air 2 is expected to measure just 5.6 mm in thickness.

Moreover, another complaint that fans had with the original iPhone Air was the lack of a secondary camera. A first look at the iPhone Air 2 design recently revealed that the phone will feature a 48 MP primary sensor, combined with a 48 MP ultrawide lens. So, this could be another area where Apple improves the next-generation Air.

The latest leak has also revealed that the Air 2 could retain its 6.55-inch display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and Dynamic Island. It will be interesting to see if Apple will equip the slim flagship with the smaller, thinner iPhone 18 Pro-like Dynamic Island.

With these changes, the tipster says the iPhone Air 2 could be the only slim flagship that could launch in 2026.

As for its expected launch date, the Air 2 could seemingly launch in January 2027, alongside the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e. As we approach the launch window, the iPhone Air 2 is turning out to be an excellent ultra-thin powerhouse.
