The latest Dimensity 8450 processor features an All Big Core CPU design which uses 1x Arm Cortex-A725, 3x Arm Cortex-A725 and 4x Arm Cortex-A725 cores. According to MediaTek, this brings up to 41% higher multi-core performance while being up to 44% more power-efficient in comparison to the previous generation. Additionally, the brand also claims 50% more L3 cache and 25% more SLC cache.

Meanwhile, for AI, the chipset sports the brand's proprietary NPU 880 as well as the Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE). Thanks to this, the processor supports all the mainstream LLMs, SLMs, and LMMs.

"The Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE) is designed to transform traditional AI applications into sophisticated agentic AI applications," MediaTek states.

As for GPU, the Dimensity 8450 uses the Arm Mali-G720 MC7 GPU. The brand claims this GPU to use 30% less memory bandwidth this time around.

For gaming, there's also MediaTek HyperEngine Adaptive Gaming Technology (MAGT) 3.0, which "includes exclusive enhancements such as touch latency optimizations and a Network Observation System (NOS) that enable precise 5G/Wi-Fi switching, improving power efficiency and optimizing network connectivity." As per MediaTek, this allows the processor to see 24% higher peak performance than the previous generation.

For those looking to stream, there's also the Live Broadcast Booster which detects the user's face more accurately alongside some "higher‑quality AI enhancements".

In terms of optics, the processor features the Imagiq 1080 ISP which allows a maximum image resolution of up to 320 MP. Additionally, this ISP also supports multi-frame EIS for HDR videos of up to 4K @ 60 FPS.

As for the display, the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 supports up to a WQHD+ display with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. It also brings dual-screen support to the table, making it an ideal processor for foldables too.

Connectivity options are adequate as well, with the chipset supporting 3CC Carrier Aggregation, Sub-6GHz 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 as well as a peak download speed of 5.17 Gbps.

When it comes to availability, MediaTek has confirmed the upcoming Oppo Reno 14 Pro smartphone to be powered by the Dimensity 8450 SoC.
