Smartphone manufacturers continue to pass the brunt of the ongoing RAM crisis to consumers and this time it's Oppo with its Reno 16. The price of the Oppo Reno 16 has gone up significantly for the second time, placing it at a much higher price point.
Oppo Reno 16 Price in India Hiked by Rs 7,000
Spotted first by tipster Sanju Choudhary on X, the Oppo Reno 16 price in India has been hiked by Rs 7,000 across both storage variants. Effective October 22, 2026, the 8 GB + 256 GB variant of the phone will cost Rs 72,999 (previously Rs 66,999).
Users looking for the 12 GB + 256 GB variant will have to shell out Rs 79,999, a steep Rs 7,000 price jump from its original Rs 72,999 price tag. Bear in mind that the Oppo Reno 16 received a price hike of Rs 5,000 back in August 2026.
This sudden price adjustment severely impacts the device's overall value. Asking nearly Rs 80,000 for a smartphone powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor is a tough pill to swallow. This is exactly why Samsung has decided to cut its production by up to 30% this year.
Industry giants like Apple are also cutting down production of their latest smartphones due to the ongoing RAM crisis. The Reno 16 will now face an uphill battle, competing with flagship smartphones that still exist under Rs 80,000 like the Apple iPhone 16.
For those unaware, the Oppo Reno 16 launched in India back in July 2026 as a premium mid-range smartphone. The phone features a compact 6.32-inch 1.5K 120 Hz AMOLED display with a 6,700mAh battery and 80W fast charging. The main highlight of the phone is its triple 50 MP rear cameras featuring a wide, telephoto and ultrawide snapper.
With the RAM crisis seriously affecting smartphone prices, we've reached a point where the prices no longer make sense. As a result, users are holding off on buying new smartphones, as shown in the statistics, with smartphone sales down by up to 20% this quarter.
