Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 at the Snapdragon Summit months ago, and it looks like the firm has finally announced its launch date. The processor is positioned as a high-performance sub-flagship SoC and an alternative to the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will power flagship killers
Qualcomm's official Weibo handle announced that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will be unveiled in China on November 26, 2025. Considering the OnePlus Ace 6T launch is set for this month and is expected to be the first 8 Gen 5-powered phone, the OnePlus launch event may mark the official release of the processor.

We've already learnt that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5's performance will sit just below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. As for the specifications, it's expected to be an octa-core chipset with two prime cores clocked at 3.8 GHz and six performance cores clocked at 3.32 GHz.
Graphics are handled by the Adreno 840, which is the same GPU found in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. As a result, early performance numbers are impressive. According to sources like Digital Chat Station, the chip allegedly scores around 3,000 points in single-core and 10,000 points in multi-core.

The first set of devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 could be the OnePlus Ace 6T (OnePlus 15R globally), Redmi Turbo 5 Pro (Poco F8) and the Vivo S50. The OnePlus 15R India launch was teased recently and it could be the country's first Snapdragon 8 Gen 5-powered device.
The full spec reveal takes place on November 26, 2025. While OnePlus has already announced its Snapdragon 8 Gen 5-powered device, we expect other smartphone manufacturers to follow soon. Stay tuned as we will delve into them and their specifications in detail.
