Smartphone manufacturers have dabbled with the idea of interchangeable backs and modular accessories, but to no avail. Realme is now planning a unique aesthetic twist for its GT 8 Pro smartphone and it could feature interchangeable camera layouts.
Realme GT 8 Pro interchangeable cameras will be purely aesthetic
According to a video shared by Realme's official Weibo handle, the Realme GT 8 Pro will feature interchangeable camera layouts, allowing users to customise the look of their phone's camera island.

"Look" is the keyword here, as this feature is purely cosmetic. It doesn't signify the return to modular phones with swappable modules like Google's Project Ara, and is only for decorative purposes. The camera lenses themselves remain in a fixed position.
The video posted by Realme also shows several designs, including a square, a circle and a robot face, which explains why the Realme GT 8 Pro looks different from the back in multiple real-life spottings. Much like CMF Phones, we hope Realme makes 3D printing files available so users can 3D print their own unique decorative module.

For those unaware, the Realme GT 8 Pro will feature Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and could pack a 7,500mAh battery. It is also expected to boast a 6.78-inch 2K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate.
Camera-wise, it could feature a 50 MP wide main sensor, 50 MP ultrawide and a 200 MP periscope telephoto with 3x zoom. The mobile phone is also expected to boast an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, excellent haptics and vastly improved stereo speakers.
The standard Realme GT 8, on the other hand, could arrive with Snapdragon 8 Elite, a smaller 7,000mAh battery and a 6.6-inch 144Hz AMOLED display. The Realme GT 8 series will be unveiled in October 2025, although the firm has yet to announce the exact launch date.
