Realme has confirmed that Michael Guo has stepped down as the head overseeing its India business. In a statement shared with Beebom, the company said Guo is leaving due to health reasons and that Chase Xu, Vice President of Realme, will now take charge of the India market. This change comes at a time when parent company Oppo is trying to restructure its business to bring Realme and OnePlus under its own roof.

Chase Xu Will Oversee the India Market

In its official statement to Beebom Gadgets, Realme said, "Michael Guo has stepped down from his role as the Representative Head overseeing business of India at Realme brand due to certain health reasons. The company respects his decision and extends its sincere appreciation for his valuable contributions to the business including the India territory during his tenure."

The company further added that Chase Xu, Vice President of Realme, will also oversee the India market. In addition, Realme reaffirmed its commitment to the country, saying that it "remains firmly committed to the Indian market and will continue to focus on its long-term growth" and that it will ensure business continuity while delivering competitive products to consumers.

To add some context, Guo had been with Realme for nearly 8 years and joined the founding team in 2018 before taking the role of India CEO in March 2023. His exit comes after OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu's resignation in March 2026. There is a clear pattern of top-level executives leaving Realme and OnePlus amid Oppo's push for restructuring.

According to reports, Oppo is restructuring its operations to manage Oppo, Realme and OnePlus under one structure instead of running them as three separate brands. The brands may have separate consumer-facing identities, but will merge resources like R&D, distribution, supply chain and after-sales to cut costs.

Earlier in March, we saw reports claiming that OnePlus and Realme are merging. And in January, a report said that OnePlus was being dismantled, however, later the India CEO assured that the brand will continue.

Meanwhile, in China, the restructuring is reportedly already done. However, in India, we are seeing slower development due to the ongoing legal issues involving Oppo. The transition may pick up pace after the Diwali festive season, this year.
