Last week, Google finally rolled out the Snapseed 4.0 update for Android users, giving them the same sleek design and features that iPhone users have been enjoying for months. However, the development team isn't quite done yet, as another update is rolling out to make it easier to open the built-in camera.
Snapseed 4.0 Gets a New Camera Shortcut
Spotted first by the team at 9to5Google, the new Snapseed 4.0.1 update is introducing a dedicated camera shortcut in the Android app. Long-pressing on the app icon on the home screen will now bring up a Camera shortcut, which users can tap on to directly launch the Snapseed camera.

This makes it so that users don't have to wait for the app to launch and then tap on the Camera button to open it, which could be time-consuming. Like other app shortcuts on Android, users can even drag the shortcut directly onto the home screen as a standalone button.
This update doesn't bring any massive interface changes to the overall app itself and is mostly a utilitarian one. That said, now that users can create a shortcut, smartphones that support gestures like the Google Pixel's Quick Tap can go a bit further and map the function to launch the Snapseed camera.
For those who haven't been able to keep up, Snapseed on Android was well overdue for an update. It completely revamps the user experience, adds a handful of new editing features, and streamlines the editing process. That said, Google should add more features to the app down the line. Until then, stay tuned.
