Google has finally started rolling out the long-awaited Snapseed 4.0 update for Android users, officially ending the overhauled version's iOS exclusivity. The update arrives nearly a year after Snapseed 3.0 debuted exclusively on iOS and brings a redesigned interface, new editing tools and camera-focused capabilities to Android devices.
Snapseed 4.0 Update for Android: What's New?
The refreshed Snapseed 4.0 update was already teased earlier this week. Now, the update is officially rolling out via the Google Play Store in phases, meaning it may take a few days before it appears for all users globally. We checked on our end and the update has rolled out in India.

One of the biggest changes in Snapseed 4.0 is the completely revamped user interface. Google has redesigned the editing layout with a cleaner and more modern aesthetic, making tools easier to access while improving navigation across the app.
The app now features a simplified editing workflow alongside customisation tool layouts and a more visually polished design, thanks to the editor now being organised in the Looks, Tools and Export tabs. The Tools tab further expands into Refine, Fix, Style and All, giving users more granular editing control.
The update also introduces the new "Snapseed Camera," an in-app camera experience that allows users to preview and apply film-style filters in real time before capturing photos. This feature was previously available on iOS, but is now making its Android debut with Snapseed 4.0.

Beyond that, Google has added several advanced editing tools to Snapseed 4.0, which include Colour HSL adjustments, Dehaze, Halation and Bloom effects. Existing tools have also been refreshed with updated film simulations inspired by Kodak, Fuji, Agfa and Polaroid cameras.
Another major addition to the Snapseed 4.0 update is the support for non-destructive editing and batch editing workflows. In simpler terms, this means users can now revisit edits without permanently altering the original image and apply edits across multiple photos more efficiently. Smart masking capabilities are also a part of the update.
The Snapseed 4.0 update is particularly significant because Android users had not received a major Snapseed refresh in nearly two years. While Google revived the app on iOS last year with Snapseed 3.0, Android users were left waiting without confirmation of when the redesign would arrive. The rollout of Snapseed 4.0 now finally brings feature parity between the two platforms.
