Xiaomi has launched the Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro in China, arriving on the heels of the recent Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max debut. These new tablets skip the in-house Xring O3 chipset in favour of Qualcomm Snapdragon processors and are catered towards entertainment and productivity junkies needing all-day performers.

Xiaomi Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro Specifications and Features

Both the Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro feature fairly clean backs, but the main distinction lies in their camera modules. While both boast squircular camera modules, the one on the Pad 9 Pro is half glass and half metal. The standard Pad 9, however, boasts an all-glass unit. There's a Xiaomi logo at the bottom alongside three pogo pins.

The Xiaomi Pad 9 (11.2-inch) and Pad 9 Pro (12.5-inch) share the same 3.2K (3200 x 2136 pixels) LCD panels with a 144 Hz refresh rate. It's a 3:2 aspect ratio with 12-bit colour depth. They share support for Dolby Vision, HDR10, and wet-touch input, alongside hardware-level blue light reduction.

Performance-wise, the standard Pad 9 gets the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, whereas the Pro gets the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. They're both octa-core chipsets, but the latter is faster and more efficient since it's based on a 3nm process. It also features faster 2nd-generation Oryon cores, while the 8s Gen 3 uses ARM cores.

Complementing the performance is up to 12 GB of LPDDR5T RAM and 256 GB UFS 4.1 storage on the standard Pad 9, and 16 GB LPDDR5T RAM and 256 GB UFS 4.1 storage on the Pad 9 Pro.

Another major difference is the battery. The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro features a larger 11,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging, whereas the Xiaomi Pad 9 houses a 9,720mAh battery with 45W charging. Thanks to the larger battery, the Pro also sports 22.5W reverse wired charging.

Optics-wise, the Pad 9 Pro boasts a 50 MP main camera paired with a 32 MP front-facing lens, whereas the standard Pad 9 boasts an inferior 13 MP main snapper coupled with an 8 MP front sensor for selfies and video calls. The Pad 9 Pro also comes with two extra speakers (6 in total) for a better audio experience.

Connectivity-wise, the Pad 9 Pro features Wi-Fi 7, whereas the rest of the features, such as Bluetooth 6.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C with DisplayPort and the sensors, are almost identical. The same goes for software, as both run Xiaomi's latest HyperOS 4.0 based on Android 17.
