- Currency Volatility: Because Indian law mandates a fixed Maximum Retail Price (MRP) that cannot fluctuate, Apple charges extra upfront so it doesn't lose money if the rupee falls against the dollar later on.
You Can Go to Malaysia, Get an iPhone Duo, and Still Save Money
The iPhone Duo preorders start on October 16, 2026, and it goes on sale on October 23, 2026. So you have time to save up for the iPhone Duo if you are planning to pick it up.
But it would make less financial sense to pay 3 lakh directly to Apple. Instead, use that money for round-trip flights for two to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, stay for a couple of nights in a decent hotel, check out the Batu Caves after you pick up the iPhone Duo, and fly back to India, with some cash still left over.
