Summary

  • In the Geekbench 6 CPU test, the A19 delivered 4% faster single-core performance than the A18 Pro, and 3% faster in multi-core tasks
  • Apple has packed six CPU and five GPU cores on the A19, but the A18 Pro features six CPU and six GPU cores.
  • The A19 GPU brings Neural Accelerators and a new N1 chip is embedded for better local connectivity.

Apple has released its new A19 chipset with the iPhone 17 series, and many users are curious how it stacks up against last year’s A18 Pro from the iPhone 16 Pro models. To see  the differences, we have discussed Geekbench results and compiled the complete specifications of the A19 and A18 Pro. Let’s see whether the new A19 can outperform Apple’s previous Pro-level A18 Pro chip.

Apple A19 vs A18 Pro: Geekbench Score

In the Geekbench 6 CPU test, the Apple A19 has scored 3,608 in single-core tasks and 8,810 in multi-core tasks. On the other hand, last year's flagship, the A18 Pro scored 3,467 in single-core and 8,550 in multi-core. In summary, the standard A19 is 4% faster than the A18 Pro in single-core tasks, and around 3% faster in multi-threaded tasks. I would say the A19 processor matches last year's A18 Pro in CPU performance.

Apple A19 vs A18 Pro: Specs Comparison

The Apple A19 is built on TSMC’s improved 3nm (N3P) process node and features a 6-core CPU with a 5-core GPU. Meanwhile, the A18 Pro from last year uses TSMC’s 3nm (N3E) node with a 6-core CPU and 6-core GPU. That said, Apple has introduced Neural Accelerators inside the A19 GPU to perform heavy AI workloads.

The A19 also brings a new N1 chip that integrates Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and Thread networking technology. On the cellular connectivity front, the A19 brings a Qualcomm Snapdragon 5G modem. Last year's A18 Pro also packed the Snapdragon X75 5G modem. Both modems support mmWave and Sub-6GHz 5G bands.
