The highlight of any OnePlus phone is the OxygenOS software experience that grows smoother with every iteration. But the company has also been quietly building its own suite of AI features that are integrated directly in the OS like MindSpace, AI VoiceScribe, AI Writer and more. Most of them already arrived with OxygenOS 15 and further expanded with the OxygenOS 16 update. So, in this guide, we will go over all OnePlus AI features, discuss how to use them and what they do.
What is OnePlus AI?
OnePlus AI is basically the name of all AI-powered tools and features that are built into OxygenOS. Similar to Samsung Galaxy AI, these can help to remember, organise, curate important things, transcribe calls or voice memos, write posts or captions, and even improve images in the Photos app. OnePlus AI is available for all OxygenOS 16-supported devices.
However, most features in the OnePlus AI suite send your data to the cloud for processing. This means you will need an active internet connection to use these features, and your data will be sent to external servers. In comparison, most Apple Intelligence features process information on the iPhone itself. However, MindSpace and AI Search are two exceptions to this.
How to Use OnePlus AI
Most of the OnePlus AI features, like AI VoiceScribe, AI Translate, AI Writer, and MindSpace, are not enabled by default, and you need to turn them on by going to Settings > OnePlus AI. Here, toggle on each AI feature individually.
On OnePlus 13s and newer devices, you can use MindSpace by pressing the dedicated Plus key on the left side of the phone. Meanwhile, older phones like the OnePlus 13, OnePlus Nord 4 with an alert slider require a three-finger swipe down to save to MindSpace.
Besides that, you can find the AI editing features within the Photos app. To use them, open an image you would like to edit, select AI Editor and pick the feature you want to use.
All OnePlus AI Features Explained
Based on everything we have discussed above, let's finally take a look at all the OnePlus AI features and explain what they do.
OnePlus MindSpace
MindSpace is the core feature on OnePlus AI, allowing users to save, organise and get detailed information about anything they save to it. The engine behind it is called Plus Mind, which analyses whatever is on the screen when triggered and pulls out relevant details.
For example: If you capture a bus ticket in MindSpace, it will extract the date, timing and seat number and let you set a reminder with a single tap. Everything saved goes into the MindSpace app, where it can be searched, browsed, and organised. It works quite similarly to NothingOS Essential Space, but it cannot create reminders and events itself.
MindSpace with Google Gemini
With OxygenOS 16, MindSpace now directly connects with Gemini AI as an extension. So, you can ask Gemini about anything stored in OnePlus MindSpace, and it will be able to search, summarise, or suggest information based on it.
For example, if you have saved a photo of a dish in your MindSpace, you can ask Gemini to lay out a detailed recipe for it. To set up Gemini Integration with MindSpace, open the Gemini app > Profile > Personal Intelligence > Connected Apps > Enable MindSpace. After that, type @Mind Space followed by a query inside Gemini to pull from saved content.
MindSpace Collections
MindSpace Collections is another new OnePlus AI feature where you can manually create and organise items in different groups. It comes in quite handy when you have added a lot of things to your MindSpace, and it becomes difficult to keep track of your saved items. However, Collections does not sort or organise content, so everything needs to be filed manually, which can be quite tiresome.
AI Search
AI Search lets you search your phone using natural language rather than exact keywords. So if you can't recall the name of a setting, for example, "Share internet with others", it will bring up Personal Hotspot and USB tethering settings. It's quite similar to Galaxy AI-powered search seen in One UI 7 on the Galaxy S25 series and later devices.
However, instead of having to go to Settings, you can bring up OnePlus AI search right from the home screen. It can also browse through all your saved files and media, making it easier to find them when you are in a rush.
AI Translate
AI Translate is a system-wide translation tool that works across apps. It can translate speech, text and even calls in real time from the OnePlus Phone app. And with the latest OxygenOS 16.1 update, it even translates menu items in foreign languages. You need to point the camera at the menu, and it will bring up a translated version with visuals, allergen information and more.
AI VoiceScribe
AI VoiceScribe is one of the best OnePlus AI features, as it allows you to record and summarise entire calls and voice recordings. It supports multiple regional and native languages, so there is no pressure to speak only English, like with Gemini on Pixel devices.
It works across WhatsApp, Snapchat, and other calling apps. It is currently available in India only, alongside AI Call Assistant, which takes things a step further by offering real-time translation during calls.
AI Suggest Widget
AI Suggest Widget is another neat addition to the OnePlus AI suite. You can add this widget to your homescreen, and it shows a clock along with your most-used or recently used apps. It also acts as a stacked widget, like the ones seen on One UI. So you can browse through different widgets like Step calculator, storage cleaner and memory boost.
AI Writer
AI Writer, as the name implies, is a writing assistant that appears as a floating window above the keyboard. It can generate content for your social media posts, like Instagram, and it can write a caption based on the context displayed on the screen. It can even improve the flow, readability and tone of anything you have already written. However, it's only limited to Instagram, WhatsApp and Google Maps.
AI Reflection Eraser
Now, let's jump into OnePlus's AI photo editing features, starting with AI Reflection Eraser. It removes unwanted reflections and glare from photos taken through glass. It is particularly effective on document photos and portraits of people wearing glasses. To use it, open the Photos app > select a photo > tap Edit > AI Editor > AI Reflection Eraser. The feature is cloud-based and requires an internet connection to process.
AI Perfect Shot
AI Perfect Shot fixes group photos where one or more people have blinked or given an unflattering expression. It analyses a burst of similar shots, identifies the best version of each face, and combines them into a single clean result. You can pick whichever face you want to use in the photo later on. It is also found under the AI Editor settings in the Photos app.
AI Detail Boost
AI Detail Boost upscales cropped or pixelated images to 4K resolution, recovering detail that would otherwise be lost when zooming into a photo. It is most useful for restoring clarity in distant subjects or cropped shots. Results are better than a standard digital crop but not flawless at high zoom levels.
AI Unblur and AI Eraser
AI Unblur sharpens blurry photos by recovering lost detail in the subject and background. It works well on motion blur and soft focus issues, particularly on portraits and pet photos. Results vary depending on how severe the blur is, but for mildly to moderately blurry shots, it does a decent job.
AI Eraser allows you to select an unwanted subject in the photos, and it uses AI to remove or wipe it clean. The result isn't as good as what you would expect from Samsung's Galaxy AI, but it is still serviceable, especially for images with a clear subject and a simple background.
