Notes
We tested the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 on the Poco M6 Plus 5G.
Qualcomm's 4-series has always been about bringing a stable smartphone experience to the masses at an extremely affordable price point. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is a great example of the same. It prioritises 5G and battery efficiency over raw horsepower. We put the chipset through its paces using the Poco M6 Plus 5G to see how it fares and here are all the benchmarks.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 AnTuTu Score
AnTuTu Benchmark | Score |
|---|---|
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 AnTuTu Score | 413,829 |
CPU | 137,213 |
GPU | 50,184 |
Memory | 110,564 |
UX | 115,868 |
We're not off to a good start in terms of performance, and that's okay. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 couldn't run AnTuTu V11, so we had to stick to V10 instead. The Poco M6 Plus clocks in at a respectable 413,829 points, which means the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is an entry-level 5G chipset. The score suggests that it offers enough headroom for daily tasks like social media and messaging. Comparing it to the competition, the 4 Gen 2 is pretty similar to the Dimensity 6300.
The breakdown reveals a decent CPU score of 137,213, which is enough to ensure a smooth experience. However, the GPU score of 50,184 suggests that the chipset will have trouble running graphically intense games. While it can handle casual 2D games easily, it will struggle to run demanding 3D titles like Genshin Impact.
The performance is driven by a 4 nm architecture, featuring two Cortex-A78 performance cores and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. The Adreno 613 GPU is pretty modest at this price point. All in all, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is not going to impress anyone, but it's pretty viable for a budget 5G processor.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 Geekbench Score
Geekbench 6 CPU | Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 |
|---|---|
Single-core | 933 |
Multi-core | 2,213 |
Moving to Geekbench, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 posted 933 points in single-core and 2,213 points in multi-core. The single-core score is surprisingly competitive for this segment, meaning that simple tasks like browsing Chrome or checking Instagram will feel snappy. The multi-core score of 2,213 indicates that while it can handle background tasks, heavy multitasking might slow it down compared to the 6 or 7 series chips like the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 or the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 CPU Throttling Test
CPU Throttling Test | Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 |
|---|---|
Maximum Score | 187,216 GIPS |
Average Score | 175,983 GIPS |
Minimum Score | 158,759 GIPS |
Throttling Percentage (Higher is better) | 92% |
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 held its ground exceptionally well in our 15-minute stress test. The CPU throttled to 92% of its maximum performance, which shows excellent stability. It hits a ceiling of 187,216 GIPS, while the average score hovers around 175,983. The gap between the average score and the minimum score of 158,859 GIPS shows that there's minimal to no thermal throttling.
As a result, users can expect very reliable performance during long usage hours. It runs cool and consistent, and you can take video calls or use the phone during long GPS navigation sessions without the phone becoming increasingly hot.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 3DMark Score
3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test | Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 |
|---|---|
Best Loop Score | 173 |
Lowest Loop Score | 170 |
Stability | 98.3% |
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 surprisingly clears the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress test. It scores 98.3% in stability, while the best and lowest loop scores are almost similar at 173 and 170. The scores are extremely low and nothing to write home about, and they confirm that this is not a gaming chipset.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 Speedometer score
The Speedometer score measures web responsiveness, and the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 scored 7.29 points. This is on the lower side, suggesting that heavy, complex web pages with lots of ads or interactive elements might take a moment to load or stutter slightly while scrolling. For basic browsing, however, it remains functional.
