The Android 17 stable update rolled out on June 16, 2026, bringing a host of new features and improvements to Google's Pixel phones. And while most users have been enjoying features like new app bubbles and screen reactions, a few are running into unexpected connectivity and touch issues.

Android 17 Starts Rough for Some Users

Last week, we reported on some Google Pixel users on Android 17 facing app connectivity issues, where a few apps, including the Google Play Store, would not connect to the internet. Well, it appears that the issues run deeper with an increasing number of users now reporting touch issues, connection drops and Wi-Fi failures.

While we've seen users complain about touch issues on Reddit, one post that gained decent traction was from user @jpwillz, whose Pixel 8 Pro would stop registering swipes for 3 seconds before working again. They also highlighted strange behaviour on Android 17, where the Quick Settings panel doesn't close when swiping up.

Owners of Google Pixel phones chimed in with their issues, with one user reporting that their Pixel 9 Pro XL has been experiencing random scrolling issues. While the thread was filled with complaints, a few users chimed in with a "fix", which requires turning off the Triple Tap to Zoom feature in Accessibility.

Besides, users continue to write about Google apps like YouTube, Gmail, Keep, and Photos not working on Wi-Fi as intended. However, third-party apps continue to work fine. Other users have reported signal drops, with phones switching from 5G to LTE, leading to slower browsing speeds.

While some users have reported enabling IPv6 on routers to fix the issue, most users aren't that geeky to find and enable the feature. Others reported that a Google Play System update fixed the issue, but with an increasingly large number of users still facing this, it appears to be a large-scale problem.

Google is yet to address the issues with an update, but multiple Google support page queries were dropped to bring it all to the brand's attention. So, we expect to see a comprehensive update roll out soon for Android 17 users.
